Bad Reviews - Help Needed!
Hey everyone, I could really use some advice from those of you whoâve been through this. I run a POD art print shop and have recently started getting a couple of low-star reviews that seem to come down to expectation mismatch rather than print defects. The main item in question actually has a bestseller tag and the majority of customers are happy, but the last two reviews were: - âThe product description makes it seem like you're getting a painting. This amount for pixelated posters is outrageous.â - âProduct does not look like the pictures. Pixely, cheap and very shiny.â Whatâs confusing is that Iâve now had two returns of this exact item, and in person the prints look correct, high-quality, and match the mockups. I clearly state that items are unframed art prints, not originals, but some buyers still seem to expect a physical painting or textured canvas. One thing Iâm questioning is pricing and expectation-setting. The price reflects premium paper, ink, and production costs and the engagement received immediately after listing, but Iâm wondering if a higher price is subconsciously leading some buyers to expect a hand-painted or textured piece, even when the description is clear. Iâm already: - Offering refunds or partial refunds quickly - Responding politely and publicly to reviews - Looking at adding more real-life photos and stronger wording in the first line of the description For those of you doing POD: - How did you reduce âthis isnât what I expectedâ reviews? - Did you change wording, mockups, pricing, or buyer messaging? - Is this just part of selling higher-priced prints, or am I missing something obvious? Any insight from your own experience would really help - i'm still very new so this is my first rough patch after decent traction, and I want to fix it properly rather than panic. Thanks in advance :)
