Just woke up after a 16-hour security detail shift where we stood up (started) a new detail for a new client. One of the challenges is sorting out the logistics after the first 24 hours of the details. In the Executive Protection world, you rarely have the luxury of knowing exactly how long the first relief will come. Workplace violence brings enough stress to mitigate to be able to worry about anything else. I have come to accept this as part of the job, but it doesn't make it any less stressful when other tasks have to be done or responsibilities to maintain. Either way, we got things sorted out, I got some sleep, and I'm prepping to go back out on the day shift to the site for a 12-hour shift in the morning. As my Grandaddy used to say, "We do what we have to do so we can later do what we want to do. Overwatch out!
