Genres
I'm getting sick of genre worship, I never listened to only one genre of music alone. I've had periods of favorites, but, between when and where I grew up, I listened a lot of different music. One of my favorite things to do as a kid was to play guitar over all different types of music, everything from techno, to bubble gum pop, to gangsta rap, to jazz, to blues, to country, to classical, to rock and metal, and even dubstep. For no other reason than pure enjoyment. I think if your that loyal to a single genre, your just missing out on a lot of stuff that could expand your playing to new levels. There was a time when old people turned their noses up at jazz, then at Blues, and then at Rock and Roll. I can't believe how little we've actually progressed since then. Whenever some old person says "music was better in my day", I say " No it wasn't, you were just younger".

@Tyler Behr what makes a real instrument? A stick and a rock can be an instrument. Blue Man Group, Stomp, all music made with random objects. It's not about what you play on just that you play. You can't break boundaries in music by doing the same stuff over and over again.

That's what I'm saying, the best bands always mixed it up. Floyd was somewhere between Rock Opera, Psychedelic, and Miles Davis. Linkin Park was somewhere between Grunge, Rap, and Pop. I guess at the end of the day it's the listeners tastes, but I love mixing it up.
Most underrated guitarist? 🎸
I think this is a loaded question because there are so many people out there that we could mention. And some of these people do have loyal, though small, fanbase. So you could argue that they're not underrated after all. People like Roy Buchanan, Jeff Beck, Phil Keaggy, Monte Montgomery and others. What's the most underrated guitarist you think people should listen to? Would love to hear your thoughts.

@Christian Lie yes, absolutely, I have always felt that way. No one can play a basic A Pentatonic with the shear vibrance and tenacity that I exude, and the way I bar an F chord on the first fret. Ha! All six strings baby! ....One day though,... they will recognize the epic way I tap while shredding a solo in not just A minor.. But A PENTATONIC minor. Ehh? And you should see what happens when I start playing Smells Like Teen Spirit at the local guitar center... The place empties out completely, those mere mortal guitar players are no match for my lifetime of learning songs from guitar world magazine... They all run and hide ....The employees claim that the store is closing for the evening, but we all know what's really happening, hah ha hah, and when I plug that Squire Strat into a line 6 spider 1x8" amp with a Boss Metal Zone and turn everything up all the way... Well, let me tell you something, ...any ladies within a ten mile radius are suddenly pregnant. Babies everywhere... Still can't play Wonderwall quite right though....🤔

Can anybody help me out? Does anyone have a simple diagram for wiring a Duncan bridge hunbucker to a 500k push pull pot with a 3 way switch for regular volume control? i know how to solder and I was an apprentice electrician for a while so I'm not a beginner. Just don't know this config. Stuff online can be confusing.

@Ric Anderson for now I just want to do straight volume control, it's a old junker I'm using to learn, it has those pots installed but not wired. I didn't want to get to crazy with it.

When I was 8 my parents already had me playing piano in competitions, I was in every school band, played recitals, street fairs, ect., was in the running for a Grammy by the time I was 19. Now I mostly only play large festivals when my band is up for it. I didn't go to college, I barley graduated high school and I've only ever worked really shit jobs. There was never really an option for me. I grew up thinking it was abnormal to not be in the constant pressure of a career in music.
