Commission Barbers Are More Successful Long-Term Than Booth Renters
This might ruffle some feathers, but it needs to be said. Booth rent sounds like freedom set your own hours, no boss, no rules. But what I’ve seen over and over again is this: Freedom without structure turns into inconsistency. Inconsistency turns into average income. Average income turns into burnout and blame. Commission, when done right, creates systems, accountability, growth, and real career paths. It forces barbers to level up beyond just cutting hair communication, professionalism, retention, and teamwork actually matter. I’ve operated both models. One scales. One usually stalls. So let’s talk about it no ego, no hate. Do you think booth rent really creates more success… or just the illusion of it? 👇 Drop your take below.

I started in booth rent shops thinking that commission was a scam I was told by barbers all through school that commission would only hold me back but after struggling in booth rent shops I tried the commission shop I am currently in and it has been super beneficial getting me started on the right track. I have a shop owner who cares about my success not only because it helps him but has generally set me up to help build clientele on my own doing everything from helping me on social media and growing my skills by bringing in educators. I’m still not fully booked but it’s making the journey of getting there easier
