🔒 The PHP security flaw in the news... what it means for your firm’s website
This week governments, hospitals and big companies took websites offline to avoid being hacked. The cause is two serious flaws in PHP. That’s the software running quietly behind most websites, including every WordPress site. Attackers can use them to take over a website, and they’re already trying. The fix is out. But it only protects you once it’s been applied. If your firm’s website runs on WordPress, here’s what to do this week: - Find out who hosts your site (your web designer will know) - Ask your host to confirm your site has had this week’s PHP security update - If you’re on an old version of PHP (8.1 or earlier), ask to upgrade... those won’t be fixed - Make sure you have a recent backup first - Update WordPress, your plugins and your theme - Remove any plugins or old sites you no longer use If you’re on Squarespace, Wix or similar, the platform looks after this for you. Not sure what to say to your host? Ask ChatGPT or Claude to write the email for you. Mention “this week’s PHP vulnerabilities” and ask them to confirm your site is patched. Most firms I speak to don’t know what their website is built on. Do you? 👇

@Thelmarie Smit Hi Thelmarie, I admire your determination and positive mindset Sometimes our first few projects don’t work out, but every experience teaches us something valuable. I’m currently running an online business through Shopify dropshipping, and I’ve been making around $45K in revenue through my Shopify store. It’s been an exciting journey, and I’d be happy to share how it works and what I’ve learned so far if you’re interested. There are always new opportunities to learn, grow, and try again. Wishing you success on your journey

Where Does AI Fit Into Your Work That's Already Creating Value?
My friend Jose told me he spent an hour showing another attorney, Rick how his firm is using AI. They walked through doing research on actual cases. They carefully checked the output for imaginary citations. Rick was impressed with what the legal AI platform was capable of. At the end of the hour, Rick asked Jose, “Is there someone who can teach him how to use AI?” Jose was surprised that their hands-on hour ended exactly where it started: how do I use AI in my firm. It wasn't an explanation failure on Jose’s part or a lack of competence by Rick. I don’t think they were talking past each other for an hour. Rick understood what AI could do. What he couldn’t imagine was where it fit into the way his firm worked every day. Most conversations about AI focus on what it can do. It organizes your week. It delivers efficient research. But this experience with Jose and Rick highlights what leaders are really asking. It’s not what can AI do. We've heard it enough. We understand that. It’s not what we need to change. We’re thinking more practically. It’s where does something new naturally fit into work that’s already creating value.
