Brain Dump
Hi everyone! I just did the Brain Dump Exercise, and it really helped me — I didn’t have a clear story spark before, but now I do! 🎉 I let myself just write without overthinking, and here are some of the fun ideas that came out: - What if a backpack could talk back? - Imagine if crayons went on strike. - Wouldn’t it be funny if the classroom pet ran for president? - What if a lunchbox had secret superpowers? - Imagine if homework did itself… but got everything wrong. - What if a pencil could draw things that came alive? - Wouldn’t it be funny if a teacher accidentally shrank to mouse size? This exercise was so freeing! I feel like I finally have a spark to start with.

These are so fun! The classroom pet running for president is my favorite — I can totally see a cat in that role. Great job letting loose with your ideas!
Stuck
I’m stuck on the illustration Power Do’s & Don’ts! I feel like I’m overthinking what my pictures should look like. I want them to be fun, but I’m worried they won’t ‘match’ or be good enough. Anyone else struggle with this part?

@Sharon Taljaard this makes me feel so much better! I keep thinking my drawings have to be perfect, but I love the reminder that kids just want fun and playful pictures. I’m going to focus on keeping my character the same and stop stressing so much. Thank you!!
Hi
Hi everyone! I’m Jessica, a mom & teacher from California. 🌸 Fun fact: my students call me the ‘class storyteller’! Can’t wait to start this course!

Hi Jessica! I’m Holly, and I get a lot of my ideas from my 7 cats. I love that you’re a teacher — you must have so many fun sparks from your classroom. Can’t wait to see your stories!
Spark Idea
“I get so much inspiration from my cats. They’re always doing something silly at night, so my spark idea is… at midnight, my cats sneak into a bakery and bake tuna cupcakes for the neighborhood owls. What do you all think?”

@Sharon Taljaard I appreciate that. Like I said before I am really enjoying this course, it's super easy to follow and I always look at my cats and think I can write a kid book, but I never knew how to put it all together, until now.
"Hi everyone! I’m Denise Wats
I’m an aspiring kids’ book author who loves turning big imaginations into tiny stories. Fun fact: I can’t drink coffee without sprinkles—because life (and books!) are better with a little sparkle! I can’t wait to start this course and learn how to bring my own story ideas to life!"
