What Server OS / kubernetes combo are you running and why?
Apologies for yet another post! I got thinking lately about my setup and wondered what is most popular here (and what I may be missing/gaining) and why you like it over others. So please do share your setups! Personally, I started with a hypervisor to mess around with VMs, but quickly transitioned to bare-metal Talos. I’m currently modifying it, but it got me wondering about doing a second setup thats more inline with enterprise-standard setups since I don’t yet have real experience with RHEL or Ubuntu servers, nor the commonly used kubernetes distros.

@Frankie Riviera Hey Frankie. Yeah, I’m looking to land a DevOps role. Honestly, I don’t have a specific area or industry that I aiming for. I’m just looking to get started and go from there. I felt like Talos OS was slowing me down as a beginner because of it’s immutability, so I’ve put that on ice and moved to Ubuntu LTS since it’s apparently most commonly used with more modern / cloud based companies. I should focus in on a more defined role I guess. Hadn’t really thought much about it.

@Gauransh Mathur not being able to ssh etc.. is a gripe I have against Talos so this sounds interesting!
Workstation Poll
Hey guys, I’m curious, what are you all using as your workstation and why? Personally, I’m partial to Mac OS for general use since I’m most familiar, but I like Arch-Hyprland too. I’m thinking about trying to transition completely into a thinkpad, but I do appreciate the relatively smooth usability, efficiency and good build quality from Macbooks. (being able to use my ipad as a second screen is useful too) This is mainly regarding laptop users by the way!

I’m yet to really try WSL. I’ve been sticking to Mac OS for the most part for homelab stuff, but I built Arch-Hyprland and tinkered with it to work on an old macbook pro. I really like it overall so I recently installed Amethyst on the Macbook to give some semblance of tile management. I think my biggest issues with going full-time Thinpad are the overall usability for hobbies outside of DevOps, build quality and sheer battery life of M chip Macbooks.
Using Longhorn with Talos
Has anyone here implemented local storage with Longhorn via Talos? It looks like previous declaration methods were deprecated and now you have to start with a custom Talos ISO to implement iSCi tools and kernel module first. Any info would be appreciated as I’m still finding my feet!
