What do you guys think is the best summer extracurricular?
Hi guys! I've been totally stressing out about what to prioritize and what I can effectively finish before summer ends (August 20) and what I can do during the school year. Summer is when we all have the most time to pursue a passion project or study for standardized tests, so what do you think is best to prioritize or start? Could you please rank it? Thank you so much :) Let me know if you have another option too!

Extra-curriculars
Hi everyone! I am currently an 8th grader studying in Canada. I am interested in STEM-related activites(science fairs, research, etc). But, I am kinda confused about how to approach the interest because I just moved hear from India, like a few months ago. I am still figuring it out how to adjust to life in North America. It's gonna take some time, so I hope you guys have something in store to help me.

Hi! I get moving is a huge adjustment, but good luck with it :) This community is great for helping you figure out STEM extracurriculars that you might like. If you want to take some smaller steps, see if your school has some science clubs that pique your interest. Also, don't be afraid to try some research projects yourself. Good luck!
Personal Project Skills!
Hey guys! I just wanted to share something I'm pretty happy about :) I completed a personal project a couple of weeks ago to develop skills for R programming! What I did was I took a binary dataset of samples with or without esophageal cancer (something pretty close to my family) and practiced creating Manhattan plots :) I probably should've found a better dataset, since this one uses Log2 Ratios instead of p-values, so I'll try editing my work a bit more Here's an example of one of the Manhattan plots. What do you think?

How valuable is research if it isn't submitted to science fair?
Hi! Here's another post about me stressing about my life 😅 I've been working on a Personal Project for one of my classes at school, and it's taking up most of my time. I want to do research as well, but I don't have an idea yet. If I compete in my regional competition my abstract would need to be submitted in February. So, how valuable would my research be if it isn't submitted to a science fair? Also, I'm pretty passionate about biomed sciences, but I don't have access to a lab. What are some examples of research in that field without the use of a lab? Thank you :)

Thank you :)) Also, I'm a sophomore in high school, so what can I do research-wise to ensure I don't fall behind?

Free Middle School/Freshmen Bio Lesson
Hey guys! I've noticed in this community that many of you are into STEM! If you are in middle school or a freshman in high school, I'll be hosting a one-hour lesson about understanding macromolecules. This is a very beginner-level class, so I'd suggest telling your younger siblings about this if you aren't a beginner! It could definitely help familiarize a student with small gaps of knowledge they might have! I'll spend part of the class going over some general middle school — freshman biology questions. Here's a link to sign up for the lesson! It's 100% free :) https://schoolhouse.world/series/29959

@Tanzim Redwan Sure. Again, this is a beginner-level lesson, which will simplify chemistry of life. I'll go over each biological macromolecule (carbs, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids), what their monomers are/look like, what the macromolecules are made of, their functions, examples of them, and a few experimental design questions to learn about the applications of each.
