If it were true you'd see or hear tons of testimonies from real fathers. You only hear the salesmen talk about it

I'm new here and just wanted to share my story. I'm 47 and a father of 5. I have 3 children with my ex (1 of them is her son that I raised since he was 2). We separated 5 years ago and it's been really hard. I don't see things getting better and just learned to cope and deal with it. After we separated we had a decent co-parenting relationship up until I started dating my lovely new partner and eventually ended up having 2 kids back to back in the past 5 years. The minute my ex found out I was having a baby she made it her mission to alienate my kids with her from my new relationship to the point where my kids don't want to meet my new babies (their blood siblings) nor be in the same room with my new lady. It created such division in my life that I have split myself in 2 to try and be a dad to all of them. It's exhausting and it hurts that my older kids (24, 18, 16 years old) don't want to have anything to do with my new family. I feel like I'm getting punished for wanting to be happy and start a new family. At first, my kids stopped talking to me for a month and it took therapy, conversation and love to get that back. I'm an active father and very close to them. They told me they love me but their loyalty is with their mom and dont want anything to do with my new family. It's a cross I carry every single day and have to do it with a smile on my face. Instead of going deeper into a depression I started focusing on myself and getting closer to God. I rebuilt my entire life from a new career, getting healthier and even starting a small business with my brother. Things are going great on the outside and I have everything I need but a piece of me dies everyday that passes that my kids don't want to even see picture of my new babies. All in all, I have to move on and just keep focusing on providing and being the best father I can be...

I enjoy being a father and wish one day I can have all of them in one room. The hardest day for me is Father's Day. I literally have to split that day in half but I ran out of options. I don't hold anything against my kids. I know what their up against. Their mom threatened to cut them off if they were to be around my new family. It's a wicked world and those kids don't deserve that. Hopefully one day they will realize they were brainwashed by their mother but until then I'm going to keep my head up and keep moving forward. Happy belated birthday. That post really hit home and I'm sorry you are going through that. Glad I found this place and what you're doing is amazing. You're giving an avenue for fathers like us to let it out and try and make sense of what's going on in our lives. Best of luck to you and always keep that head up. One day you're kids will grow up and be able to think for themselves
