The real test when training horses….
The real test when training horses is to be flexible and able to change. Every horse is different, but we tend to be stuck in our ways, so being able to read horses is a real skill. Listen and watch, like it’s the first time you’ve worked with a horse. Imagine them as unknown (hard to do but imperative if we want to expand). As a trainer it’s easy for me as I work with new horses all the time and I have to listen to what each one needs, so if you only have one horse see if you can swap horses for a day and look at how you respond: Growth comes from thinking outside the square - and horses love for us to grow

Totally agree. So important to learn to read the horses we work with or own.

This is Goldleigh Barron, I rescued him as a 3 year Stallion, and lost him at 26 years. The 2nd phot is some of his progeny. He was amazing pony. Competed with novice kids riding him and my daughter when she was only 10 started his riding carrier. He earn many $'s for charities when we did charities rides. I have a daughter and a granddaughter of his still.

And no I’m not going to tell you to set your goals ( yes you should!) or start doing affirmations (yes you should!) or get going to the gym (yes you should!) But I am going to suggest making time…time for you to do the things you love. Life gets in the way, yes. We allow ourselves to get busy or distracted, but if we actually write time into diary for the things we love you will find it has a big effect on your day, week and year. When we write in our own time we are prioritising self care, and I promise when you see it written down you’ll feel special. Follow thru with it. Work can wait, dinner can wait, the washing can wait. Give yourself permission to look after you, no matter what it is your love to do

This is something I need to do this year. Make time me and my horses.
Ever had a horse that was difficult to worm?
Teddy has a reputation for head tossing, sometimes head butting and running backwards. So I spent a short session working with him on accepting the wormer. Everyone was in on it 😂

@Stacey Youlios I agree with you there. It just makes it worse for the next time.
