Strategy from Lisa
Lisa shared this strategy in a comment on the post called Freddy's Sleep Strategy. I wanted to add it in the Strategies to Share category so you don't miss it. 'Brain brushing" is new one on me! "I tell my brain that it deserves to rest and that all thoughts will be clearer and decisions likely better when awake. I also learned recently to imagine lovingly cleaning my brain - visualizing the gentle and slow process of cleaning it with a very soft brush. That focus has allowed the spinning thoughts to take a backseat and I’m out before I know it. :)"🤩

Waking up at roughly 1:00am to 4:00am is normal for aged humans. (I do it almost every night and, caveat, I think I'm normal). To get back to sleep, for the health conscious try low fat yogurt plus a fruit like applesauce. Otherwise, the traditional cookies and milk will do the trick. Once your glucose levels peak and adenosine levels rise, they plug up the receptors on your brain, you'll sleep and oversleep like a baby. If you are worried that you will forget to follow up on important information, writing reminders on a note helps. Sometimes your brain comes up with novel solutions to a variety of "problems" while you sleep or semi-sleep. Also, avoid sleeping with manipulative cats.
Our First LIVE Call was magic!
Woot! Woot! 6pm MT was Calm in the Chaos magic last night, my friends. There was a fine mix of 3 men and 3 women (+1 who had tech issues, and I'll walk her through joining tomorrow) on the call sharing a bit about what causes them internal chaos. And the ideas and support came quickly. We shared a breath practice used by Navy Seals, a Jin Shin Jyutsu finger hold, and a tip to capture runaway thoughts that keep you up at night. It was a fantastic start. One member shared a comment that touched me so deeply, I need to share it with you. "Love how you tore down walls and got men, who were ready, to emote. You are doing historical work. Keep it up!" Wow, receiving this kindness helps me know I am offering something of value in Skool. I am so grateful to be able to offer this support to folks in a time when our country is in heavy turmoil, as if our personal chaos isn't enough. The good news is - as we navigate these difficult days back to sanity and humanity, we have community support to lean on. Thanks so much to each of you here!
