RECORDING: LIVE-STREAM TRAINING SESSION #2 (Nova)
This was our second live-stream training session for our Confetti Dogs Learning Community. Today's session was with one of my dogs, Nova. We worked on reviewing some "relational obedience" with some highly intentional DURATION, DISTANCE, & DISTRACTION scaffolding, off-leash recall review, mixing "play," obedience, and nose work (at the end), etc... Lots of fun!

Hi all. Wasn’t able to make the live stream, but just watched and greatly appreciated the recording. So many great tips I intend to use while working with my Lola. Thanks John, Nova and Confetti Dogs! Nova did so great! Love her ears.
Welcome to our Confetti Dogs Learning Community!
If you are a new member, I'm so glad you are here and I'm really looking forward to using this platform in some pretty creative and hopefully productive ways that will benefit all of the members here. If you don't mind, as soon as you get a chance, take a minute to introduce yourself a bit: 1) Tell us a little bit about yourself! 2) Tell us, briefly, about your dog(s) you have or if you are planning on getting a dog in the near future, etc.! 3) Just for fun...what's your favorite FOOD, BOOK, or MOVIE! I'll start below...Thanks so much for joining!

I’m Guy, husband of Anna Marie father of three amazing 30 something’s and Lola our shar pei mix. Oh yeah, I’m uncle to our host John Tomassoni. We moved from Maryland to Vermont 3 years ago and love it! We lost my middle son Mike 4 years ago and Lola has been and continues to a big part of my grief journey. Lola was I think John’s first virtual student when she was a young pup. So thankful to John and April for creating Confetti Dogs and this new and exciting platform. :)

hi Josh? How do u know the Guido? U of M connection?
Thanks and question….
Very excited to be in this group. My pup Lola got some early training from John. Well I got the training. He really helped me understand my pup. As for my question, we have her off leash in my yard here in Vermont. We have neighbors visit frequently. Our Lola is very nice, but she does jump to say hi more than I’d like. I tell folks to turn around when she does that, but they don’t always do it. She has an e-collar on while she is in the yard, but wouldn’t and to give her even a little shock when she is showing love. Any suggestions? I’d also like to work on off leash healing. Thanks again for this platform. :)

Thanku for the great tips. I think I want to try harder to have people turn their backs to her if she jumps - removing positive input when she jumps. I’m reluctant to use to use e-collar in the jumping situation. I use it for recall if she is ignoring or if she is starting to chase a dear or things like that. What are your thoughts on this approach?

Thanku so much for sharing this great video. I’ll keep u posted on my progress. Love beautiful Nova, the chickens in the background and the yard. She’s actually pretty good at off leash heal - I just want better. She’s great at stay command (word or sign). Also going to start using a command like out or release to let go of what ever she has. Thanku sooo much!
PHOTO & NAME OF OUR GROUP MEMBERS' DOGS
**When you get a super quick moment (won't take long), please add a brief visual post here solely focused on sharing a PHOTO OR TWO of each of your dog. Upload one or two photos per dog, pick your favorite pictures from your photo albums AND REMIND US OF THEIR NAME, as well. That's all! I'd love to have an ongoing "photo album" of this learning group's pups! After all, these are all of our "CONFETTI DOGS!" I'll start for me and April. ALSO...please try to do one dog at a time if you have more than one dog...like I'm doing below.

My dog Lola is way more than a pet. She’s my therapyst, counselor, exercise motivator, grief comforter, etc etc. I’m 63, live in and love Vermont.
