Welcome! Introduce yourself + share a pict of your sauna glow
Let’s get to know each other! You can use this format: Hey, I’m from ____________. It had been _____ days/hours since my last sauna, steam or cold plunge. I’ll go first… Hey I’m John from Minnesota (the sauna capital of North America 🤘). Bless me father for it has been A WEEK since my last sauna! (But less than 24 hours since my last cold plunge… spending the summer in Arizona getting into the cold side of contrast therapy like never before 🧊)! Here’s a pict of me and my besties glowed up after steaming at Lifetime in Phoenix last week…

I’m Grant from Alabama, aka the Thermal Connoisseur. It has been about 15 days since my last sauna, steam or cold plunge. My travels have slowed and I sesperately need to get my own Wellness Garden built in my backyard, but "life" keeps getting in the way. My career involved traveling the world 15 to 20 days a month for 25 years. To stay sane, I sought out thermal bathing experiences to relax from the stress of my travels. I have been to over 85 hot springs worldwide and countless other forms of thermal bathing in more than a dozen countries. My professional expertise involves thermal transfer with steam. I also have academic training in Environmental Science and Engineering. I have been very active in water infrastructure and plumbing standards and codes development for 30 years. I have been planning to generate a series of lectures with discussion on the principles of thermal transfer from the scientific perspective of a Thermal Connoisseur. I also want to provide peer review discussion of relevant research published in journals as I read and study them. I have been involved in academic research for much of my career. I have served on university Industry Advisory Boards, have helped to secure millions of USD in federal research funding, and have provided academic peer review on numerous research publications. Often my peer review focus is on the influence of variables and how to control such in the experimental design. I have also been engaged in AI research since 2009; I helped to author a multi-million USD NSF research grant to establish a central data warehouse for AI (Big Data Analytics back then) predictive performance modeling of water infrastructure. I have ideas for how to better "optimize" sauna performance with AI modeling. I also believe we need to make revision proposals during the next 3 year master code cycle to better reflect good sanitation practice with cold plunges and proper safety and performance good practice for sauna stoves and sauna ventilation.
