One of the most important things I've learned since becoming an online entrepreneur is that the most important thing you can do to grow your business is to build relationships. Many of us (myself included) have rushed to promote our groups and services that we care so deeply about. And it only makes sense - we are excited about what we are doing! Today, I'd like to invite you to take a step back and introduce yourself to the group by answering the following questions: 1. Who are you personally? 2. Who are you professionally? 3. What is something you love doing outside of work? 4. What is something surprising about you? As you open up and make more connections, you will find that not only are people more interested in what you do, but they will also be more interested in helping you make connections with other people they know! 😉 After you introduce yourself, please scroll through the other introductions and add a comment to someone you have something in common with or would like to know more about. 😊 Please add your introduction in the comments below! ⬇️

Hey there, My name is Grant and I am a Brit living in New Zealand for the past 20 years with my wife, daughter and Golden Retrievers. My core career was as a graphic designer that then went on to building a creative agency to a team of 8. From there I developed a skill and passion for strategy and leadership. About 2.5 years ago my world changed being diagnosed with cancer and then one of my best friends taking his own life... the world became very dark. That helped me ask the question - whats life all about. And for me it was about connection and a boyhood dream of being a carpenter. So I started Plots & Pickles Vintage... over the past 3 years I turned it from a first purchase of $10 to now specialising on vintage furniture curation, restoration and teaching with a monthly revenue of $20,000. Several months ago I started in person classes helping people restore their own pieces and hence now have started my Skool, The Restoration Room to help people all over the world reclaim their furniture, learn new skills and bring it back to life. Outside of work I love triathlon, running and asking questions of the world. I once represented New Zealand at the Triathlon World Champs in Cozumel. When I was 17 I applied to join the Royal Air Force with the goal of working on reconissance planes...I'm glad I didn't pursue it!! Thats me. Grant

@Shannon Boyer life is for living!
My community is more than vintage furniture!
I have built my vintage furniture business up over the past 3 years here in New Zealand and it has become more than selling for me. So much of what I do is based on peoples memories and values - I've lost count how many people come into my space and talk about pieces that remind them of their childhood or a loved one. Equally they talk about being conscious consumers - not buying modern rubbish that costs more and is usually crap quality. The thing I have understood over time is that with my customers being 85% female, that they are more open to asking questions and sharing their emotions around the purchase, something that I have been able to utilise to grow a very loyal following in person. (Luckily I am an empath due to my mums wonderful influence so open to connect on these more emotional layers). By listening to them I realise there was a huge gap for women that are practical but have no outlet or support, there are plenty of mens sheds etc but little for women. Hence I started in person workshops that were all women bar one guy and they share openly. They want to get away from life, have something for them, use powertools, create and build confidence. Thats what my Skool is solving. I only have 5-6 people in my classes and then I have 5/6 in my members class - I don't want any more as it won't be so connected and the value will be lost. This is what I have learned from Sam Ovens, 'do the unscalable to create scale'. These in person classes have been a testing ground to develop my vision for my community and be able to reach people through New Zealand and the world. 'Welcome to The Restoration Room - For people who love vintage furniture and want a place to learn, try new techniques, share progress, and build confidence along the way.' I release two weekly short lessons each Sunday so that my members can do easy fixes in their own time and space. Over time I see the community submitting their pieces and challenges so that we can collectively learn together which will create natural engagement and transformation.
My community is more than vintage furniture!
