Memorial advice
Hi everyone I’ve been booked to take my first memorial. The person requested a direct cremation and now the family are planning to celebrate his life next month. While I have created and led many funeral ceremonies I have yet to lead a memorial. I feel comfortable with the overall process but am wondering how you end the service. I often use a blessing before the farewell / committal - would this be a fitting end? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance Beth

I held a memorial on the banks of the Murray River in Waikerie. The finale was the family and friends throwing a handful rose petals into the river. Before this, I finished with how grief comes in waves - to welcome the grief in, allowing the grief to spend time and do its thing - because this was "Kathy' coming to pay a visit ... it was altogether a beautiful occasion and being just my 3rd service ... it left me with the feeling of addressing a call to come to this vocation ...
