Got some experience but I need help
Hi everyone, my name is Austin. I am trying to start a lawn care business, and I’m really focused on learning how to grow it the right way. I joined this group because I want to connect with others, share ideas, and especially pick up tips on finding clients and building a successful business. I’m excited to learn from your experiences and also contribute any knowledge I can along the way.

Hi Austin. Bit of a plug here I guess. But I'm in the same boat (just starting out) and my main concern is how to find (and keep on finding) new clients. I joined the Lawn Business Builders Pro group a few months back and working with Stuart there one-on-one has really helped me. It's early days for me still but worth it so far.
Mowing the lawn is only half the job...
It took me a while to realize something that now feels obvious: Mowing the lawn isn’t just about mowing the lawn. It’s about getting paid too. There are two parts to the job: Do the work. Make sure you get paid. And if you only focus on the first part, hoping the second will just happen then... you’re leaving the most important part up to chance. I used to give people a lot of leeway. Some paid on time. Some paid the day before the next cut. Some… didn’t pay at all. So I set a rule: Everbody that not on a monthy account pays within 24 hours (90% of our clients) Anything beyond that? Time to shake a few trees We started texting invoices the same night the job was done. Payment due in 24 hours. If it’s late, we follow up, kindly but firmly every few days. Turns out, most people pay on time when they know that you are a squeeky wheel. And the ones who don’t? Eventually, they get tired of a the reminder texts and leave, and by then, we’re not sad to see them go. There are plenty of good paying clients out there. We turned up. We did the job. And we expected to be paid, promptly, clearly, and without awkwardness. That’s a fair exchange. Dont you agree?

Dealing with this right now actually. (Bad luck too as it is with the 2nd client I ever got.) What do you suggest Stuart, if they still just don't pay and days turn into weeks? Keen to hear what the community suggests too.
