### What is Your True Currency in an Uncertain World?
Hi everyone, I came across a video that poses a provocative question: In a major systemic collapse, where our current financial and food systems fail, what becomes the real currency for survival? The video argues it's not money, but tangible goods and practical skills—things like food, medicine, fuel, and the knowledge to heal, build, and grow. This got me thinking on a deeper level, moving beyond "prepping" to resilience and community. I'd love to hear your perspective. Let's exchange not from fear, but from wisdom: 1. The "What": If you had to choose, what ONE practical skill (e.g., fermenting, herbal first aid, seed saving, small engine repair) do you believe would be your most valuable asset, and why? 2. The "Who": Beyond goods and skills, what human qualities (e.g., trust, cooperation, storytelling, conflict resolution) would become the true "currency" of a new community? 3. The "Now": How can we start building that resilience today? Is it by learning to grow a kitchen herb garden, forming a local skill-share group, or simply strengthening bonds with our neighbors? This isn't about doomsday; it's about rediscovering the foundational elements of a sustainable life. Our collective knowledge is the most valuable resource we have. Watch the video here if you're curious: [The One Currency That Will Decide Who Survives After Collapse] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nP3N78WluM What are your thoughts? What is your "true currency"?

🧳 Quick Guide: Charles Schwab International Account for Expats in Paraguay
What it is (Charles Schwab International) - A U.S. brokerage account that lets you invest in U.S. markets. - Comes with a Charles Schwab checking account and Visa debit card. - Debit card is famous for worldwide ATM fee rebates and no foreign transaction fees. ✅ Pros for Expats in Paraguay - ATM rebates – Any fee you pay at a Paraguayan ATM is refunded monthly. - No FX fees – Card charges in guaraní have no extra 2–3% surcharge. - $0 U.S. stock/ETF trades – Easy way to keep investing abroad. - No minimums, no monthly fees – Open with any amount. - Strong protections – FDIC insurance for cash, SIPC for investments. ⚠️ Cons to Watch Out For - Eligibility check – Paraguay is currently supported, but availability may change. - Delayed ATM rebates – You pay upfront; refund comes later. - Not a local bank – Can’t pay bills in guaraní; still need a PY bank account. - Foreign exchange costs – Conversion uses Visa rates; no rebates for Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC). - Card shipping – Replacements may take time in Paraguay. 📑 Requirements - U.S. citizens → Passport + SSN + proof of Paraguayan address. - Non-U.S. citizens in Paraguay → Passport + cédula (or RUC) + proof of address. - Online application takes ~15 minutes. Upload scans and wait for approval. 💡 Pro Tips - Always decline DCC at ATMs (don’t let machine “charge in USD”). - Pair with a local bank for bills and guaraní expenses. - Use Schwab for cash access + investing, Meru/UZPay as optional fintech bridges. - Keep a backup card in case of delays. ✨ Bottom Line For expats in Paraguay, Schwab is the best card for withdrawing cash cheaply and investing in U.S. markets. Pair it with a local bank for daily life in guaraní, and you’ll cover all bases. Full Article here: Complete Guide Charles Schwab International

@Roger Johansson - If you open an International account in one country do you know if it's possible to change your country of residence (assuming both countries are eligible), as far as the Schwab account is concerned?

What is this? Think about all the opportunities that are just around the corner here! Do you miss something from home that you can’t find here in Paraguay? It could be anything—food, beverages, or other items. If you’re not going to do it yourself, post it here. Do you need help with a potential business idea? Share it, let someone fill the gap, and we’ll all have a richer life.

@Sam S - Cups, straws and leaves are currently available in the UK on Amazon, and the current growth in the UK market is supposedly 7.45% and rising (6wresearch). The cups and straws can also be found on Etsy; some sales volume information is available there, no idea how accurate it is. If there is a solid market and you don't want to compete on Amazon, you could try a monthly subscription box of "Yerba Maté" related products which could make the process a little easier to manage. You can always get on social media and pre-sell the subscription idea before you decide what's going into them.
