Just got out of the call with @Harjot Singh Had an epic discussion on business planning and strategy for my brand at @brandingwithkim on Instagram Few things I’ve learnt : Start with the product and cultivate the content around it And decided to use my strengths as content topics instead of something I’ve never achieved - ultimately avoiding imposter syndrome from the get go. "The Hook" The only way you can truly grab the attention of your viewers is within the first 3 seconds of the video. (Note: This article is focusing solely on Reels) This should be your absolute non-negotiable #1 priority when you are producing any reels. Depending on what is most comfortable for your usual video making some creators recommend to start with your hook first before moving onto filming b-rolls, scriptwriting, etc. But how do you know hooks work? Instagram's biggest method of tracking a reel's success is the watch time. Even though the average trending line is downwards to the end, having a hook that is 30% better and more clear to the viewer can result in 22% more retention time and a huge view count from hundreds to over 100k+ views added to your video. It is absolutely possible to have one video that leads you thousands, if not ten thousands of new followers to your profile, so ensure that your hooks are on point. So how do I make the perfect hook? I've been spending several hours on the psychology behind hooks, and found out that getting your video to go viral has little to do with luck but everything to do with the structure of your hook.
