Introduction
Hi all, I'm Jacob, I was a chiropractor in Australia for nearly 20 years and now live in Portugal with my wife (also a chiro) and two girls. I'm getting started in M&A and looking at opportunities outside of chiropractic/healthcare - specifically UK manufacturing in the Aerospace vertical. Lots of reasons why, but one of the big ones is the scale available in manufacturing/tech that isn't there in chiropractic. I'm in the process of building a team, with the priority being someone with aerospace manufacturing experience to be on the ground when it all kicks off. If anyone knows someone that I should be talking to, I'd love an intro! And if I can help in the chiro space, just reach out.

Hi @Jacob Brady-Walker , sensible to line up someone on the ground before you start. In owner-led precision manufacturing, the customer approvals and the quality accreditation are often held together by one or two people, and the owner is only one of them. When you look at targets, map who those people are and whether they are staying before you look at the machines.

Hi everyone, I’m Richard, a Computing and Cyber Security lecturer based in Northern Ireland. I also hold a Master’s degree in Business Development. I’ve had a keen interest in business, entrepreneurship and acquisitions for some time, and it now feels like the right time to take that interest further. I’m here to learn from others, network and take the next step towards acquiring and growing a great business. I’m particularly interested in areas such as care homes, nurseries, accountancy firms, M&E/engineering services and manufacturing, although I’m very much keeping an open mind. Would be grateful for any intros. I’m also in the WhatsApp group. Looking forward to connecting with you all 🤝

Hi @Richard Johnston , good spread of sectors. One pattern worth knowing for accountancy firms and care homes in particular: a lot of the value sits with one or two people. In a practice, the selling partner often holds the client relationships. In a care home, the registered manager matters as much as the owner. Worth asking early how many of the top clients have dealt with anyone else in the business.
How many Acquisitions are you looking at?
The most dangerous time for a business buyer is when you only have one acquisition opportunity sitting on your desk. You'll bend over backwards to make it work. You become emotionally committed to it. And because it's your only deal, you start doing things you know you shouldn't... Overlooking red flags. Negotiating against yourself, pushing your offers well above your original valuation just to keep the deal alive. So, how do you cure it? You build options. You build deal flow. I'm looking to work with 3x people this month to help them fix this exact issue. Completely done for you - you just need to speak to the opportunities. Please reach out for more info!

Agree on deal fever. The same thing often shows up one step later. Once a buyer is committed to the only deal on the desk, the questions about what still sits with the seller get softer: who signs, who the top customers actually call, who holds the supplier terms. Having options keeps you honest at that stage too.
Hi all, I am Gökhan
From one person's head to a system your team runs. That is the short version of what I do at Freedom Architects. When you buy a founder-led business, a lot of what makes it work still sits with the founder: the decisions, the key customers, the supplier terms, often the bank mandate too. I measure that before signing and run the handover with the buyer's team in the first 100 days. Before this I spent 15 years in banking and finance at BNP Paribas Group, assessing businesses the way lenders and investors do. I work across the UK and DACH from London and Istanbul, mostly online. I am here to learn how others in the group source deals, and to compare notes on what happens after completion. If you are looking at a founder-led target and want a second pair of eyes on how much still rests on the owner, send me a message.
