If you missed today's call, watch the replay. Seriously. Elena broke down the stuff nobody explains properly — how muscle actually gets built, why most workouts backfire for women over 40, and how to train hard without wrecking your hormones in the process. Here's the short version of what we covered: 1. Muscle is the goal. Not the scale. Muscle is your engine. It's what burns fat while you sit still, protects your joints, and keeps your metabolism from sliding. Every year past 40 you lose it quietly unless you give your body a reason to keep it. That reason is resistance training. 2. More is not better. Better is better. This was the big one. Long, grinding, exhausting workouts spike cortisol — your stress hormone. High cortisol tears down the exact things you're trying to build: muscle, collagen, bone. So you can absolutely work out hard and still go backward. 3. There's a right way to train — and it's simpler than you think. You don't need two hours. You don't need to be sore for three days. You need progressive resistance, enough recovery, and enough protein to actually rebuild. That's the whole game. 4. Recovery is part of the workout, not a break from it. Sleep is when the rebuilding happens. Under-eating and chronic stress cancel out good training. If you're doing everything right in the gym and nothing is changing, look at those three first.
