local whisper app
I am sure you all know whisper flow. I decided to build a similar app that only runs on local models(i made it for macs with apple chips only , at least for now) it will work with any text field of any app you have in focus. it has the following features and they can run together or you can choose which you want. first this is a menu bar app (i will attach different screen shots there are more then 10 so i will add the others in a reply) - the app will scan your hardware and recommend which models you should download - it transcribes what your are saying - it can clean up your transcription using an LLM (remove filler words etc.. ) - it can auto detect which language are you using (depending on the language engine you are using but if you also have to correct one it will revert to it if you choose auto detect) - it can translate your dictation - it can also rewrite what you dictated to a format you want (you have built in option like professional emails or you can give custom instructions - you can enter custom words you want it to understand , like your name if its hard for AI to know its a name - it has a feedback loop where you can correct its dictations and it will learn from it - you can also have transformers that will pick up on words and write them the way you decided for example: what ever -> whatever - two modes to activate press hotkey and release it will record until you press it again (you can set a time out if it doesn't hear anything it will stop and transcribe ) or you can hold the hot key and it will record until your release I also had it packaged as a dmg if any one wants to try it

The hardware-scan-then-recommend-model part is the smartest piece — most local AI tools make you guess what your machine can handle and you find out when it chokes. Local-only dictation also kills the privacy objection if you ever use it for client work. Does it downgrade gracefully when a bigger model can't keep up in real time, or pick the smaller one upfront?

@Alon Adelson graceful degradation with a local-only fallback is the right call for a v1. Get it on a few testers with different chips and that perf question answers itself fast — the M1 Air crowd will find the ceiling for you 😄
N8N or Claude Code?
This might be a dumb question, But are people still using N8N to make workflows or just using claude code to make the workflows for them?

Not a dumb question, it's basically THE debate right now. Both camps are alive. I ended up building straight in Claude Code — once logic gets conditional, code beats dragging nodes. But n8n still earns its spot for visual monitoring and clients who want to see the flow. My rule of thumb: judgment calls go to agents, plumbing between apps goes to whichever you can debug faster. You building for yourself or for clients?

@Robert Jackman very doable goal — selling automations is mostly showing a business one number they care about (missed leads, hours saved). Build one small automation for a problem you actually have first, that becomes your demo. Good luck man 💪
Fable 5 ecom immersive website
Just shipped a new immersive e-commerce concept focused on storytelling over visuals. Would love your thoughts full preview is on my LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/aimankandakji_aibuilders-claudeai-agenticengineering-ugcPost-7479138807926398976-GiMk/?utm_source=social_share_send&utm_medium=member_desktop_web&rcm=ACoAAC0DIX0BWU6QUV81FhIHGFt3NZLlYVwY1No A like is appreciated 🙌

Storytelling over visuals is the right bet for ecom — most "immersive" sites are just parallax wallpaper that slows checkout. What's under the hood, straight Fable build or a framework on top?
Beginning
I just started watching the clasroom course any advice guys?

Best advice I can give: don't just watch, pause after each lesson and build the thing while it's fresh. I wasted my first weeks collecting tutorials instead of shipping — one ugly working build teaches more than five finished playlists. What are you hoping to build first?
Week 1 project: deploying tools to run my site to a VPS
Hi all, I only joined the community this week but have been working with Claude for a few months now. Thanks to Claude I've been building a games jobs resource, listing over 14,000 jobs worldwide. Much of that started in 2022, but I'm not a good engineer, so I had to start and stop for a long time. Enter Claude. Not only did it get me up and running in a few weeks, but also taught me how to use node and python to test and get the data into a format that is useful. That coupled with auto tests and real user feedback helped me build something amazing. Then this week, I had a long chat with Fable, talking about ideas on where to take the site next, what to add, how to improve things and make things more secure and more. Then Fable made a suggestion: your tooling is running locally, why are you doing this to yourself? (Okay it didn't say it like that but you get the idea). Then within a few days it deployed my tech stack to a VPS, scheduled the tests and deployments, helped me set up a telegram bot for validation, and it's been running nicely for the last 2 days! So happy about this, and I learnt a lot about dealing with planners, executors and validators, and it's been a blast!

14,000 live listings is a real product, not a week-1 project — congrats. The auto-tests are the underrated part, that's what lets a non-engineer keep shipping without silently breaking the data pipeline. Curious what pushed you to a VPS over managed hosting — cost or control?
