lt seems I am enrolled in two communities as well, just signed up for the full access one. 😅 Are they supposed to be different or the same? The Carive Swim Full Acces and the Caribe Swim Adult Swim Lessons.
Freestyle Breathing
Hello! And Happy New Year! I am stumped. I can't figure out this breathing situation. Everytime I go out for air, I catch water in my mouth. Which for some reason disturbs my momentum, and I find myself trying to spit out the water mid-strokes before the next air intake. In all videos I have watched it looks like the swimmer also catches water, but doesn't affect them? or they just don't catch water at all? (I don't know how, because the mouth is literally half-in and half-out of the water). Any ideas how to overcome this? Any drills recommendation? 😅
After 31 Swim Lessons, He Just Wants to Feel Safe Kayaking
Caribe Nation, I spoke with a member of our community yesterday who’s had 31 swimming lessons at his local YMCA — with very little progress. That part is frustrating. But the hardest part of the conversation wasn’t the number of lessons. It was his goal. He doesn’t want to swim laps or compete. He just wants to kayak with friends without feeling like a safety liability. That should not take 31 lessons. As a profession, we have to do better. Here is the process I shared with him. https://caribeswim.beehiiv.com/p/after-31-lessons-he-can-t-swim-here-s-why If you have a similar experience please share it in the comments! Honestly it is frustrating. I payed $300 a month for swimming lessons. Had my coach changed twice, and didn't improved at all! Not because of a lack of trying, I honestly felt like the knowledge was simply not there. Not for an adult, not for actual techniques. For a child it is a different story of course. I personally, I had to cancel it, cuz I just couldn't justify it anymore and my pockets were hurting. :( So I am glad I found you and your program coach. I will be returning to the pool after the holidays and already feeling ready to go practice after watching your videos.
Testing, testing, 123... Hello!
Hello! I am new here. I have been watching the youtube videos, and finally decided to check out the community. 😁 I am 31 and I am learning to swim and to become comfortable in the water. I only know the basic backstroke from military basic training 9 years ago, and nothing else (seriously 😅). I am hoping to build my confidence in the water, my lungs, my muscles.....and overcome my fear of not-touching-bottom. The goal is to pass the Navy swim qualification for commissioning as an officer. Then I am hoping to pass the knowledge to my children, so they can go and become mermaids 🧜‍♀️🧜‍♀️or something like that.

@Jeff Wood Thank you so much! You are totally right about the process. So far I have always been started at the deep end. Even as a child, my parents used to take me to the deep side first, playfully. The Navy is not better, since day one of swimming we step off from a 10ft platform into a 12ft deep pool. So you can imagine my discomfort ha ha. And thank you for pointing out the panic. Because I do. Not a physical panic but more internal, is like my body knows when I have gone too far (usually after 6ft deep) and I freeze/tense up, breathing controlout the window. Mentally speaking is tiring. So I am excited to get started with your program, which so far has tought me I have been approaching the water wrong. So thank you for what you do and thank you for the video! ❤️‍🔥❤️❤️‍🔥
