1 minute awareness exercise
This is an exercise that requires no previous knowledge of any tai chi forms or Qi gong practice. Simply stand or sit comfortably. Breathing through the nose, take three to five deep slow relaxed breaths, and just notice where the body holds tension, don't try to change it, just become aware of it, that awareness is already a great start to learning Tai chi. What did you notice?

I didn't get much from this exercise when I tried it on Sunday. But I had another go in my tea break at work today. It was useful to identify new areas of tension that had occurred because of the way I had been moving and using my body.
What Brought You to Tai Chi?
If you’re comfortable sharing, I’d love to know what brought you here. You might be: - Feeling stiff or tense - Looking for a calmer way to move - Curious about traditional martial Tai Chi - Returning to practice after a break There’s no right or wrong reason. Simply leave a short comment below. Reading each other’s experiences helps shape this community.

I first attendedGeoff's tai chi classes in 2004, which I heard about from a friend. I was learning kung fu at the time and not making much progress. My friend told me that this was not like other tai chi classes as the martial applications of the movements were explained. I have had a long break from classes but kept up a minimal amount of practice, mostly short yang. I'm really glad to have rediscovered the practice, it's a perfect compliment to my other personal, health and spiritual development practices.

The first started learning Tai Chi in 2004. I found Steven's classes six months ago and I'm very glad to be back to the practice
