Agree a decent cafe for awsome breakfast like aussie/kiwi style - serving great healthy food and brilliant coffee (think steampunk plus the food). Also a place for teens and younger kids like a soft/indoor play and climbing wall. NB is fantastic for kids but most of the activity opportunities are really for outdoor in good weather. Something for families and teens to do indoors or in winter months would be excellent. Otherwise parents are having to drive to Whitekirk/Haddington/Musselburgh just for a soft play (with mediocre cafes attached) The community centre is such a great space that could accommodate alot of/all of the suggestions here on this forum if used properly. The outdoor space at the back is ideal for a cafe seating and also the indoor back area where the nursery used to be could be a cafe offering live music in evenings. And a huge kitchen area already onsite would need upgrading.
And also everywhere opens relatively late - 9amish. Aus/Nz the culture seems to be everyone up earlier, exercising and cafes open like 5/6am! The earlier darker nights maybe affect that there compared to BST but still think there is a market for it in NB. Especially in summer with all the early morning dog walkers/swimmers/runners. Just a thought.
