identity shift experience or bad parenting? (embrace the unknown like this boy)
Imagine sending a 3 or 4 year child into the streets of Japan… Through busy crosswalks… Waiting for trains to pass… All the way to a restaurant to pick up some fresh sushi… All by themselves… This is a common thing in Japan and is considered “the first errand” It is an identity shifting experience that changes the self image and belief of the child If you are from the west or other parts of the world… You would think this is CRAZY and bad parenting The boy was reluctant to go out all by himself… to walk through the unknown… Through LOUD streets with GIANT people… But with the encouragement of his parents… He went on his way… And came back to his parents a NEW kid who would never be the same again… A new identity, a new level of confidence and a new ability I was pretty surprised to see this while watching a series called “Becoming YOU” Which follows 100 babies though childhood experiences to become who they are by age 5 Most of the patterns of who we are are set by age 5 Unless we do the inner work, we tend to keep many of these patterns alive most of our lives I am watching this series because I find it helpful in understanding my own inner child As well as identity shifting experiences and how we can use them as adults Also as a result of a recent screen detox and social media detox this is a very light and happy thing to watch I have this paired with re-reading the book Autobiography of a Yogi for the 3rd time High vibe content consumption if you ask me lol (still have cut out unconscious scrolling and more) Lesson for today is to be like that little boy and trust that even when there is reluctance to the unknown… You can trust that the person you will become will be worth it You have it in you to step into new experiences and in the unknown is where ALL magic happens It’s where abundance is… It's where new connections are And it’s where love is You just have to have the courage to choose it! The “known” is full of ALL the stuff you’ve already experienced and you can always go back to it if you want lol

My mum used to send me to the local Bakery as a kid, not Tokyo lol but I would return home with half the loaf because it was so irresistibly good. Where my love for bread and independence was born for real. I guess I entered just at the right time for the challenge too 🙂 and will get the Autobiography of a Yogi too, not read it yet 💫
