Washing the rig
If you spent anytime catching fish in a kayak or bass boat, you know that deck padding can get pretty raunchy. I like to mixed a bucket of water and dish soap with a nylon brush and wash mitt to get the grunge off. Sometimes I’ll soak the whole thing down with a heavy cleaner like Purple Power or simple green. I know people like adding a protectant like 303 but I tend to replace my decals every so often when I jack them up and like them to stick, so I never have. What protectant do you like?

I just take mine to the self service car wash. The soap in the foam canon smells much better than fish slime. I don't use 303, I have a hard enough time getting decals to stick, I don't want to make it more difficult for what is probably minimal protection.
Garmin Force Current
As some of you already know, I just freshly added the new Garmin stern mount motor with spot lock. I just put it in the water for the first time yesterday for about ten minutes and the way it comes out of the box there is a definite learning curve. I’m going to do some adjustments and put some more seat time in before giving the true test down at the Classic. Once I get the hang of it, I think this will be the ultimate hands free fishing motor. I’ll post updates as edits right here. What do you want to know about it? Update: Top speed on 24 volts is 5.6 mph loaded down, 4.6 mph on 12 volts. Just learned today how to get it to navigate a track from a waypoint on the graph, very awesome feature. Spot lock is extremely accurate and strong.

I really need to get mine back on the water before the 21st but looking at the weather and my schedule, that could be difficult. For the few hours I spent with it I was impressed by the maneuverability. Its definitely pretty torquey, hit it too hard and it will throw you a bit. Gotta be careful not to accidentally push a pedal and that was easy to do, that may be a problem. Did you try both props? Ive read the weedless prop is the faster of the two. Using the high effeciency one it got my Unlimited to 5.1, occasionally 5.2 on slick calm water. I'm hoping to squeeze out a little more. Other guys are getting 5.6-5.8 in their Unlimiteds, so they say.

This sometimes feels like politics, so let’s not get to that point, I’m just curious lol.

@Cam Gonzales it seems that's gonna fall under knowing when to adapt. Know when to keep your face in the screen to pinpoint fish and know when to go cover water.

I got out on the water for the first time with my AT2. I honestly thought it would take several trips, several tweaks and lots of practice to see anything. I was able to pick up my baits most of the time. The pond I was on was a slow bite and the fish were in the middle on structure (brush and rocks I suppose) I never knew was there. The fish were still hard to find, but I found some. I watched a 3.5 pounder eat my Bojangles Botech, I never would have caught that fish without the FFS. I think this thing is going to be a benefit and will help in places like Mark Twain that has lots of cover but lots of dead water. I just have to discipline myself to not stare at it constantly.
Rod Talk
I believe true fishing efficiency comes from the right equipment. This post is to answer fishing rod questions. I will be making a course soon, breaking down the first big step I took to improve my competitiveness.

Hey Lance, how do you feel about the Helium glide bait rod? It is extra heavy, moderate-fast, but only 7'3. That seems a bit short for this rod. I hope to use a glide bait/swim bait rod for medium-ish baits, like the Clutch Eco and maybe Magdrafts/Cull Shads. Hopefully a-rigs too.

@Lance Burris perfect.
If you’re here, you deserve this, I’m passing it forward.
I have trusted Kistler rods since 2018 and use them exclusively. I believe they are the lightest most durable rods I’ve ever used and can account them for assisting with my success as a tournament angler. The owner, Trey Kistler, is a great veteran, Christian, and just a good guy altogether. You all are here to better yourselves as anglers, no matter what level or stage of the game you’re in. I am grateful of the person who introduced me to the rods so I’m passing it forward. I’d like to invite you to join Team Kistler and receive some great incentives on rods, reels, line, and other great products they come out with. I can also answer any questions you might have about them, which will be rolled into many of our conversations and courses. Use this link to apply and tell them Lance Burris invited you. Let me know if you get an acceptance letter. https://kistlerrods.com/pages/kistler-team-packet?srsltid=AfmBOoqGmY2cMLoXa-GhQghDDiyNT0-VmRhCbjvXI-nw0jV6wjnpUvJT

@Lance Burris I'm an idiot. Just found it in the specs at the bottom. Had been skimming right past it.

@Lance Burris I'm gonna have a couple more rod questions when it is time to make my next order, but will drop those into your rod specific thread.
