Washing the rig
If you spent anytime catching fish in a kayak or bass boat, you know that deck padding can get pretty raunchy. I like to mixed a bucket of water and dish soap with a nylon brush and wash mitt to get the grunge off. Sometimes I’ll soak the whole thing down with a heavy cleaner like Purple Power or simple green. I know people like adding a protectant like 303 but I tend to replace my decals every so often when I jack them up and like them to stick, so I never have. What protectant do you like?

@Kim Lange thanks. Yes that’s always a struggle in certain places around the country.

@Eric LaPierre largemouth or smallmouth depending where I’m at.
Introducing Myself
Hi everyone, happy to be a part of the group. I am from South Carolina and fish for giant smallmouth in the Broad River. I also like to hit some big lakes too. Not a tournament guy, but super interested in the business of Skool and how it all works. It's gonna be a great year!

I wish we had the smallmouth you guys have out there. Welcome to the group.
Garmin Force Current
As some of you already know, I just freshly added the new Garmin stern mount motor with spot lock. I just put it in the water for the first time yesterday for about ten minutes and the way it comes out of the box there is a definite learning curve. I’m going to do some adjustments and put some more seat time in before giving the true test down at the Classic. Once I get the hang of it, I think this will be the ultimate hands free fishing motor. I’ll post updates as edits right here. What do you want to know about it? Update: Top speed on 24 volts is 5.6 mph loaded down, 4.6 mph on 12 volts. Just learned today how to get it to navigate a track from a waypoint on the graph, very awesome feature. Spot lock is extremely accurate and strong.

@Frankie Haus I started with the weedless because I heard it was the fastest. I’m going to invert the steering to rudder control style to see if it controls easier and I’m going to work on the gain to calm down the jerkiness.
Forward Facing Sonar
This sometimes feels like politics, so let’s not get to that point, I’m just curious lol.

@Ethan Burge I haven’t fully committed to the minner shaking yet but I picked up some baits that I think will help with that. Our water is going to get pretty hard in the next couple of weeks so I don’t think I’ll get much chance to practice before the season starts.

@Frankie Haus that’s the trick, use it when it’s needed and learn fish behavior.
Rod Talk
I believe true fishing efficiency comes from the right equipment. This post is to answer fishing rod questions. I will be making a course soon, breaking down the first big step I took to improve my competitiveness.

@Frankie Haus I love that rod. I’ve used it for magdrafts and 3oz baits
