Turning my business into a hobby
In July, I acquired the FB group Yachts ⛵ with the sole intention of turning it into another profitable business in my cash flow portfolio. I bought the domain Yachtusiasts(dot)com and created the premium community Yachtusiasts here on Skool. I had no prior connection to yachts, and to be honest, even today I’m not exactly an enthusiast. But as I’ve been getting to know this interesting segment through the source community, I’ve been meeting new friends and people who inspire me. One example is Vita, a fifteen year old girl who just bought a boat and is renovating it from scratch. How did we end up connecting and partnering? You wouldn’t believe it. One day, I was approving new members into Yachts on FB. In the entry questions, I mentioned the premium community and asked if I could send members more information via Messenger. That is how Vita’s mom reached out. We started talking, agreed to collaborate, and she became a moderator in the group in exchange for being able to promote within it. Later, we agreed on further cooperation and began rolling out our projects together. I’m already looking forward to Málaga, because naturally, yachts have started to interest me more. I don’t feel the need to buy one, but I already know that when walking along the coast I’ll be more observant. Instead of just saying, “Oh look, a boat,” I’ll be thinking about whether it is a sailboat or a yacht. I’m sure that very soon you’ll be reading stories from me about being out at sea with someone. So, I’m not completely convinced that when you start something only for money, it cannot turn into a hobby. And conversely, a hobby you once loved may turn sour once you begin doing it just for money. That is why I like not labeling myself and building my cash-flow portfolio in a diverse way. And before I forget. Do you see the connection between buying an older boat with the intention of renovating it and enjoying it, and the way I buy “old groups” that I renovate by migrating them onto new technologies? Even a child understands that building a new boat from scratch is more costly, both in time and in money. So if you do not yet have your own community but are considering starting one, you do not have to build it from the ground up. Buy an already established one and give it a new soul. @Jakub Pacanda currently, I don't do very many things, like none... I really love walking, like a lot, and I know it helps with almost everything everytime. I absolutely need to set a schedule, as the autumn is already here, and I know how it will go... 😅
