Quill (my AI partner) and I would like to try something special for Thanksgiving. Over time, this community has accumulated quite a cast of animals, mascots, characters, and assorted personalities. And Thanksgiving provides the one thing guaranteed to bring them all together: **Food.** This seems unlikely to end quietly. 😂 So we are going to write a **KDP Publishing Community Thanksgiving Crossover Story** featuring characters volunteered by members of this community. But there’s a twist: ### **The cast will remain SECRET until the final story is revealed.** If you have an animal, mascot, fictional character, or avatar you would like to volunteer, **DM me privately**. Please send: ⦁ Who you are volunteering ⦁ A sentence or two about their personality ⦁ Any useful quirks, habits, talents, weaknesses, or known food-related offenses ⦁ Permission for Quill and me to use them in the story ⦁ At least one image ⦁ And, if you wish, a plot idea, Thanksgiving complication, or bit of mischief you’d love us to consider Please **don’t announce your volunteer in the comments.** The secrecy is part of the fun. 🤫 Once we have our cast, Quill and I will lock the kitchen doors, count the pies, review the suspect list, disregard several sensible warnings, and write the adventure. Then we’ll reveal the story — and everyone who wandered into it — here as our Thanksgiving gift to the community. No charge. No promotion. No strings. Just storytelling, community fun, and a collection of characters who probably should not have been left alone near the dessert table. The other day, I came across a Facebook post from a smaller creator who was celebrating a milestone. She had published a children's book on Amazon KDP and was excited to share that she had made 𝟮𝟱 𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗦! 🎉 Something that should have been celebrated quickly turned UGLY. People started ATTACKING her in the comments, calling her work "AI slop," threatening to report her book to Amazon, and trying to tear down what should have been a proud moment. And for what? Because she used AI to help create her book? Thankfully, this creator was handling the situation with CLASS. She wasn't engaging with the bullies or feeding into the negativity. I don't personally know this woman, but I'm not blind to what's happening. And I can only imagine how frustrating it must feel to share something you're proud of, only to have strangers try to destroy your excitement. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱. 👇 🤖 𝟭. 𝗔𝗜 𝗜𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗧 𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗭𝗢𝗡 𝗞𝗗𝗣'𝗦 𝗥𝗨𝗟𝗘𝗦. I think there's a HUGE misunderstanding about AI-generated content and Amazon's publishing policies. Amazon DOES allow AI-generated content, provided it follows their content guidelines. And here's something a lot of the people screaming about AI don't even realize... 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗜-𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱. What Amazon DOES require is that you disclose AI-generated text, images, or translations during the KDP publishing process. That includes AI-generated cover art and interior illustrations. There's also a distinction between AI-generated and AI-assisted content. Amazon does not require disclosure when AI was only used to assist with things like brainstorming, editing, or proofreading your own work. The important thing is to follow Amazon's rules, be truthful in your disclosures, respect intellectual property rights, and create books that provide value to your readers. 💛 𝟮. 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗜𝗦 𝗚𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗦𝗨𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦. Whether you're creating children's books, coloring books, journals, workbooks, or full-length novels, you need to understand something... Not everyone is going to be nice about what you're building.
