Reflections
Another painting from memory. I spent my teenage years on Lake Erie and one morning the water was like a smooth pane of glass. After many sketches, this 16 x 20 oil on canvas is my attempt to capture that morning.

It's so beautiful Chuck!!!
Thames River
This painting never made it out of my studio. I finished it 4 weeks ago and it was on a display wall without a frame. A neighborโ€™s daughter was visiting and said I must have that painting for my husbandโ€™s birthday. He is British. The painting is 16โ€ x 12โ€ on stretched canvas. I traveled a lot to England in the โ€˜90โ€™s and after removing the house boats, barges and other โ€œdetritusโ€, I came up with my version of the Thames somewhere near Oxford. There is a lot of artistic license in this painting.

So pretty Chuck!!!
Sketch of rolling hills
Here is my sketch, in the painting I will lighten the hills...I wanted to have a clear view of what I'm going to paint. This will be the first time I've painted with oils ๐Ÿคฉ

Lonely tree nr 3
For this variation of my lonely tree landscape I did something a bit risky: a rater bold tetrad of yellow-green, yellow orange, blue violet and red violet. I suppose it could go down as the autumn version. Previous two versions added for comparisonโ€ฆ and I may yet go for springโ€ฆ

Want Your Painting Critiqued This Monday? (Plus Composition Help!)
Hey Artists ๐Ÿ‘‹ Quick heads-up: this Monday at 8 AM Sydney time, I'm running a 2-hour painting critique session at the Art School. Here's how it works: Got a painting that's driving you crazy? Submit it, and I'll help you figure out what's working, what's not, and exactly how to fix it. Got photos or an idea for a painting, but not sure how to tackle it? Bring those too! We'll workshop the composition together and develop a solid game plan for painting it. This is one of my favourite sessions to run because you get real-time feedback on YOUR specific challenges - whether it's composition, values, colour mixing, or just figuring out where to start. After this critique session, we're back to our regular weekly live painting classes (with full replays), plus you'll get access to 60+ complete painting courses covering everything from clouds to trees to mastering values. If you've been thinking about joining the Art School, now's a great time. Jump in, submit your work, and let's get you some breakthroughs. https://www.skool.com/samuel-earp-online-art-school/about See you Monday! Sam

Hi Sam I've done the rolling hills thumbnails, I'm almost finished the sketch... it's taken me a very long time, lots of rubbing out. I'm drawing it from a screen shot of your finished demonstration painting. Do you have a photo of your painting of the rolling hills finished? Because my screenshot is crooked. I'm learning lots about your painting process with oils because I'm studying your painting. I'm using the painting because when I use the reference I get confused with what goes where. If you have time I'd like for you to have a look at the sketch ๐Ÿ˜ƒ it doesn't have correct values because if I do that I can't see where I have to paint. Thanks for your message fi ๐Ÿ™ƒ
