Another painting from memory. I spent my teenage years on Lake Erie and one morning the water was like a smooth pane of glass. After many sketches, this 16 x 20 oil on canvas is my attempt to capture that morning.

This painting never made it out of my studio. I finished it 4 weeks ago and it was on a display wall without a frame. A neighbor’s daughter was visiting and said I must have that painting for my husband’s birthday. He is British. The painting is 16” x 12” on stretched canvas. I traveled a lot to England in the ‘90’s and after removing the house boats, barges and other “detritus”, I came up with my version of the Thames somewhere near Oxford. There is a lot of artistic license in this painting.

Here is my sketch, in the painting I will lighten the hills...I wanted to have a clear view of what I'm going to paint. This will be the first time I've painted with oils 🤩

For this variation of my lonely tree landscape I did something a bit risky: a rater bold tetrad of yellow-green, yellow orange, blue violet and red violet. I suppose it could go down as the autumn version. Previous two versions added for comparison… and I may yet go for spring…
