Lapin 0.1.618: changes of 4 November 2026
Fixes from testers' reports - Doors can be selected in plan again. A click on a door's jambs, frame, opening, leaf or swing now selects the door. Before, the wall, the door tag or a room finish took the click. - Walls joined in an L, T or X no longer cut each other wrongly. Each wall layer meets the other wall's layers by its own priority: a new Priority column in Wall types, defaulting to the material's place in the cut order. - Room outlines at corners over 180° now follow the wall faces, so snaps no longer land inside the wall and the area is right. - Arched heads look true in 3D. Arches are no longer drawn as a few straight pieces at a distance, and round windows are smoother. - No more freeze from a mistyped level. If a level is typed in the wrong unit (3000 m instead of 3000 mm), stairs are now capped at 50 m and 400 risers, and storeys over 100 m are refused. - Edits apply to the whole selection. Hand, side, sill, type and flip in Properties now change every selected door, window, wall or slab in one undo step. - MOVE and COPY slide doors, windows and openings along their wall, or into another wall. - Schedules list a door flipped to the other hand as its type's mirror image, with mark D-M and "(mirrored)". - The Wall types dialog has a legend: the wall in plan, an arrow the way it was drawn, the R and L faces, and its layers numbered as in the table. - Configurator buttons stay in view on small screens (1366 × 768). Before, the steel hall's preview covered the Create hall button. - Views and the web build: - view toolbars no longer overlap; - CSV and XLSX exports ask where to save; - the web version shows its real version number. Tags, labels and levels - Tags can show any parameter of an element or its type, from your own template. Their leader can be bent, switched off, and moved by grips. There is a new tool, Annotate → Tag a parameter. - Tags and labels can be edited on screen, part by part: move or turn each text line, and lengthen each end of a door or window marker. Ctrl/⌘-click on a grip resets that part. - Annotate → Axis grid…, with each axis's ends, length, angle and spacing in Properties. - Levels and heights follow the project's units everywhere, including feet and inches in imperial projects.

Thanks Ionut! 👊
Wanted - BubbleBIM preBeta testers
Anyone here want to play with BubbleBIM while is under development? Online. No install needed. Could be an opotunity to descover bugs, ask for functions, shape it's future. Write me in this post. I am thinking of making a Render release that will follow and update as I push new features in github. Kind regards, Ionut

BubbleBIM status - with video
I am recicling some old fotos and videos of BubbleBIM on linkedin - because I am lazy. I will make a short update to the date with what happened with it: - added material config; - visual filters; - suport for shells and coverings; - more complex boolean operations; - started implementing 2D drawings, frontviews and sections using TOC 2D drawings release and some personal techniques - managed to get a hang of line weigths and styles, still some work to do here for better control of position, direction and depth - after that, hatches/textures; - for now I downgraded from ladybugdb to simple json as database. Found a rust crate that is called nanograph that seems more user-friendly for my purposes. Happy to say modules from this tool are implemented, developed and used in a cool comercial software project for a client from Austria. As soon as I will be happy with the 2D drawings, will make a Render build for members of this comunity to test. Kind regards, Ionut

Gamefying the new generation of tools
Guess who's back?! While in the background I am working hard on new tools and implementations: both for clients and for BubbleBIM ecosystem, my philosopy on how to aproach everything drifts more and more in the game spectre. Let's be honest: BIM and CAD tools are boring. But I don't believe this should remain the same. Yes. It is boring to build DuckDB or LadyBUGDB databases using sql code or cypher. But put a nice UI in top, with a cool UX, configure targets to achieve and milestones, and you have a game. Transfer this logic to our AEC problem. Imagine this: delivering to the client not an IFC file -> but a full configured app that opens in the browser, with all the data he needs accesible as in a webpage. Let him play with materials, colors, costs. Give him a nice dashboard with budgets, carbon emisions, cost of managing that building over time, or the value evolution per credit costs. Would he be more temptet to buy from you? Think about it. P.S. Changed my mind. Soon will open back the group to new commers. As soon as I deploy the first playable version of BubbleBIM Online. Kind regards, Ionut

I completely agree with you on that, Software like Revit can feel very limiting, Boring and is also extremely expensive! 🔥

@Gurudhevan Ganesh Compared with Rhino and Grasshopper, which are based on NURBS, Revit’s BREP approach can feel quite limited, and it is extremely expensive over time. I say that respectfully, of course. 😌
Stealing IfcWindows and IfcDoors
I am a romanian. And a lazy romanian I may add. So I've developed a system to creatively "borrow" ifc elements from IFC models to use them in BubbleBIM. I really don't have the time or the pacience to model beautifull 3D window models. So... I even started to create a library out of it. Because I care about recycling. Loocks nice on the wall, doesn't it?
