Shortly after I started my YouTube channel, I came to this group. I joined in the first week that the group was set up by Alexa. That was September 18, 2024. I am grateful to Alexa and all of the members of this group for your input and encouragement. If I can do this at 80 years old, you can do this at an age.

Lower Engagement on Talking Videos
Hello all. I've had this music channel for little over a year. It has mostly been me covering songs on classical guitar, but I also want to get into the generic help for musicians space (goal setting, habit formation, motivation, etc). My music videos do pretty well for a channel with my sub count, however when I make a video giving advice they're low. - I do minimal editing - My outline/script is admittedly long - I don't have any fancy edits or thumbnails aside from text - Most of these videos have been directed at guitarists, but I feel like I should/could expand to all musicians. I'm trying to keep things relatively "easy mode" and I like the depth of the content I put out, but do I really need to shorten things to 10 minutes to keep attention spans? Maybe the full script should be used in more of a blog/newsletter style format? Here's an example of one: https://youtu.be/lbpWfNRIja0?si=hyBFLvtCQVT0nPDR

@Adrian Sanders Hi Adrian, yeah I’m in here, although I don’t check the Skool notifications as often as I should, hence the late response to this conversation. Thanks @Mike Bayer for recommending my video. Yeah I was just doing my own music and maybe a few covers on my YouTube channel and then I switched to giving advice to musicians, specifically guitarist and singer/songwriters. It’s hard to know what to do when you change like that, I knew that some of my audience wouldn’t be interested in the tips for musicians videos and I debated starting a new channel all together, however I only had my channel for a year or so with maybe 300 subs or something like this so I decided to continue with the same channel. I like your simple approach to your videos, I’d say you’d probably benefit with keeping your videos a little shorter, at least at first and then start to make them longer after a while.

Diving Into Livestream
I’ve really enjoyed the live streaming and podcasts that I’ve been interviewed on and been wanting to do a live stream for a long time. So I’m finally going to do it this coming Friday, January 24 at 10 AM Pacific time. I posted this video announcing it. https://youtu.be/9l68FYV9X0Q?si=Ii6mBtNdPQ0nBRXc

Very cute win!
I just have to share, my daughter (11) just recorded her first ever YouTube video for her (for now) faceless gaming channel! She has wanted to be a YouTuber for years. She did so well even though she was so nervous and I’m so proud of her. She’s the reason I started my channels, so that YouTube was something we could do together and I wanted to learn to be able to help her succeed and my heart is very full tonight! Not a channel win but a life win!

That’s amazing, congrats!! šŸ™Œ I’m teaching my 7 year old son how to edit and use a camera. These are life long skills that they can take with them and hopefully use later in life.
