Wednesday Scenario Choice
You head out for a short solo walk after a rough week. Nothing epic. Just boots on, jacket on, out the door before you talk yourself out of it. But your brain is noisy: Overthinking everything Snapping at small stuff Tired but wired Can’t seem to settle You reach a quiet woodland clearing with a small fire pit and a fallen log. You’ve got: A flask Brew kit Notebook & pen Tarp 2 hours of daylight No signal No one needs you right now. No schedule. Just you and the trees. What do you do first? A) Walk hard and fast to burn it off B) Sit, brew up, and just watch the woods for 10 minutes C) Build a small fire and focus on one simple task D) Journal or brain-dump everything onto paper E) Something else entirely Drop your letter and why. Sometimes the most radical thing is just… sitting still and drinking tea like a woodland pensioner.

E. Make a fire, setup the tarp, make a browse bed and wait untill peace finds me.
Firesteel with the Jaakaripuukko
Recently I showed a method to effectively use a firesteel (ferrorod) with the weird spine on the Varusteleka Jääkäripuukko knife. See the video below!

Tools
Hey, what’s the best knife and tool ‘set’ you can recommend for getting doing more stuff in the outdoors… bushcraft carving and making all sorts…. Ty

If you want to start out a Morakniv Companion is a good choice. If you want to spend a larger amount on a one knife for life purchase, I would suggest the Morakniv Garberg Stainless. It will serve you well, in any environment and it is a great fire knife as well!
What's your fondest memory of being outdoors?
Taking inspo from @Outdoor Heroes team building activity, why don't we all reminisce a little and share what our favourite or fondest memory of being outdoors.

Can’t keep silent if I was the inspo 😏 My favorite moment was a near religious experience; solo, late winter in the mountains on the border between Bosnia and Montenegro. This place was still unfamiliar to me. I was exhausted because the 1m layer of snow was unexpected. My feet were wet, because I made a miscalculation crossing an ice cold stream. I had to reach a shelter to not risk frostbite that night. The tarp didn’t feel like an option anymore. I rationalized I should feel some fear, but I didn’t. After another steep uphill, my heart beating in my chest, the sun broke through the clouds and hit some powder snow falling of a spruce branch. It was such a magical moment, and left a rare feeling of connectedness with all that is, a sensation hard to express with words, that it will remain with me forever.
Team Building Games / Challenges
Alrighty people, let's share knowledge. This thread is for any and all team building games or challenges / tasks. Team building can often come with a *sigh* by those having to participate but that's the corporate view of it. Team can mean colleagues of course, but it can also be family units or friends. 🔗 It's a great way to recalibrate outdoors as it helps us recognise strengths and areas for improvement within our unit, LINKING individuals closer together. 📈 It BOOSTS morale and productivity 🫂 Connectedness - it helps us become more EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT towards others. 🧩 INCLUSIVE - it supports inclusivity within a group, supporting people to WANT others involved. 😆 It's also fun if delivered in the right way! So, let's share our favourite games / activities below so that ANYONE can use these with their target group if needed 😎 I'll start below 👇

Oh yeah! I did one recently with their first memory of being in Nature. In pairs they find a spot in the field. One talks for 5 minutes while the other just listens, then the other talks for 5 about their first memory. Bring the group back in a circle and ask them to present themselves with each others names and tell “their” first memory of being in nature. Let me know how they and you experience it!

It gets laughs for sure, but often deeper emotions surface as well.
