Introduce yourself
Here's a little welcome and intro post, part of becoming more connected is sharing. Share who you are, where you're from and perhaps a cool wee picture of your favourite place outdoors or favourite activity. Here comes the tricky bit : Can you also admit to how long you spend roughly on technology e.g. phones, computer, or tablet. This is not to shame, but to act as a starting point for us to move forward in our recalibration. I'll go first:- I'm Lisa, a 31 year old mum of 1, I am an outdoor educator / leader from central Scotland. My favourite activities are bushcraft & canoeing. I perhaps spend far too much time on tech, being around 3-5 hrs of dipping in and out each day. I'm sharing one of my favourite places in Scotland, Glencoe. ✌️ - Lisa

Hi, I’m Pauline. I live in Perth and Kinross, I love a varied life and usually buy lots of novelty items. I’m a Nikon. Camera user and love ‘people watching’, so my camera comes in handy, recording other people’s lives in different places. love visiting new places and experiencing different cultures. When my son was little, we sat at the top of the Nou Camp, Barcelona, watching great footballers, but enjoyed sharing a picnic with an elderly Spanish couple. Our only communication was sharing food, smiling, and hugging each another. What a beautiful experience!! Similar experience in Italy with my hubby and our friends - but enjoying music, singing in English and enjoying food together was the communication. ‘New York’ was the tune, in Italian for them and English for us!

Today, I've been thinking a lot about our connection to the land and 'why' we have favourite places. There's a few reasons we may have favourite places, perhaps the way we feel when we are there, the memories associated with a place, maybe it's the type of environment. Whatever the reason, we have these places where we feel 'connected'. In Scottish Gaelic, there is a word Dúthchas. This word refers to a deep connection that people have with the land. It's more than just how it makes us feel, it's a sense of belonging, the intertwining of human and land, stewardship of the land too. I recently came across Tom Langhorne (Fandabi Dozi) who has hosted a very interesting talk with Ryan Dziadowiec on his You Tube page and I would encourage people to watch it. Ryan describes dúthchas as a much more complex word than we perhaps realise. In any event, having a connectedness to the land, has always been an element of us humans, but are we losing it? Being an outdoor educator, I have worked with various people in the outdoors and in a variety of locations. I come across people who absolutely love the outdoors and seems to feel that instant connection, though I have also come across people and more alarmingly lots of young people (ages 11-17) who seem to have little to no interest in the place, history and heritage of the area. I'm really interested in why we are losing this connection with the land and I suppose our heritage along with it. Is it a Scottish thing? Is it a UK thing or is it happening globally. Drop us a comment below and share your favourite green space and if you don't have one, or perhaps you don't feel a connection, let us know and we can begin to support recalibration and finding that connection outdoors. Take care peeps ✌️

I too like Lochore Meadows, there’s lots to do and used by many and where I completed my multi water sports qualification. But my most favourite place is KENMORE. My connection to this univers is most definitely WATER. KENMORE is also where I first experienced wind surfing… awesome x
