Weekly Wins!
Hey all - let’s share something that went well in our gardens this week! Even if it was a tiny achievement or step forward - a small win can be the difference between growth and stagnation in our spaces. Each week I will pin this thread to the top of the community section for us to share a photo or comment from our spaces. This will work to keep everyone motivated and allow us to celebrate and share these magnificent moments that could inspire you and anyone else who sees it! Let’s do this!

What a great initiative, Sam! Thanks for creating this collaborative space. I'm always on the look out for ideas to apply in early learning centres and primary schools (and hopefully high schools soon). Budgets are often tight and thankfully good quality seed is readily available but sometimes it's good to get into composting and worm farms if the centres or schools have them. I focus on hands on learning where children do the work, whether they're 3 or 12. Any ideas on makeshift worm farms, composting, and setting up propagation stations (where students can carry out maintenance such as watering) on low budgets are welcomed. I'm looking forward to more discussions on this platform. Cheers, Evelyn

@Sam Betteridge Holding a market stall at the end of next month is actually in train at a primary school. Unfortunately the watering system in place isn't working and we lost all our hard work during the school holidays when the kids weren't around to keep up the watering. I've been really disappointed with the Holman timers and would welcome recommendations on any affordable industrial-type ones I could look into. Having said that, we are pressing on with the planned market stall. Fingers crossed I can work some magic this week getting a bunch of seedlings of leafy greens in and powering them along with some rich microbial teas. P.S. thanks for your very kind words. I'm grateful to be working in this space and surrounded by inspiring and equally passionate people.
Patch Work Gardening - Why it works for LEARNING GARDENS
In this video I take you on a tour of my large Patch Work LEARNING Garden. This type of gardening really lends itself well To LEARNING more about plants, pollinators, patch raptors and how they all interact, in systems, with ppl in mind. If you ask me - this method reduces the stress of getting started and provides a huge boost in terms of education potential!
