Authority without Stiffness
Thursday, and let’s be honest—the workday was effectively over in spirit long before it ended on the calendar. The day was filled with multiple meetings with senior leadership, all centered on pitching new concepts and, more importantly, persuading decision-makers to allocate resources and rethink personnel management. As anyone who has sat at that table knows, ideas may brief well, but translating them into approved funding and action items is a different sport altogether—one that requires patience, clarity, and a touch of optimism. For today’s modest “power move,” I debuted a thrifted burgundy tie, which set the tone for the outfit. I skipped the pocket square—originally leaning toward champagne, though none in my rotation felt quite right—so I embraced the minimalist route, even if it felt slightly like leaving the house without your watch. I paired it with a new shirt featuring French cuffs and added mechanical cuff links to echo the watch's mechanics on my wrist. To finish the look, I dusted off Maison Kin’s Jago, an inspired-by interpretation of Le Labo’s Santal 33—comforting, confident, and quietly persuasive, much like a well-crafted briefing. Absolutely—here’s a tighter, cleaner version with the same intent and tone, just a bit more polished and efficient: Yes, the background is AI-generated, and that was a deliberate choice. A cluttered room or an unfortunate mirror adds nothing to a thoughtful, well-curated sartorial presentation. If I’m investing the time and effort to build a gentleman’s wardrobe, spending a few extra minutes to compose an image that does it justice is simply logical. Call it vanity if you must—I call it attention to detail and consistency..

Love the watch!
What’s the most $$ you’ve spent on a pillow?
I know this post doesn’t have a lot to do with style. But maybe in some aspects it does?? A man needs to be well rested in order to get up and take on his daily tasks. I saw this pillow on my most recent trip to The Bahamas and held off getting it but I kept going back to the website and “dreaming” about it. I mean, it’s almost $140 after tax. I’m normally a $15-$20 range for my pillows. I finally pulled the trigger and I’m here to tell you it’s the most comfortable pillow I have ever owned and I slept better than I have in probably a year. If you’re a hot sleeper or have any issues with neck or back pain in the mornings you should really look into grabbing one of these! https://www.cariloha.com/cariloha-gel-pillow

Cool!
Powerful One - Two Combo
Monday morning, I strapped on my new two-tone Bulova Marine Star and baptized myself in Montblanc Explorer like I was about to board a private jet instead of the 8:15 subway. The bergamot hit like fresh Italian sunshine, the vetiver and leather wrapped around me like I’d just stepped out of a Florentine workshop, and suddenly my wrinkled Monday shirt smelled richer than a Saudi prince’s bathrobe. Ten minutes into the commute I was grinning like an idiot because I smelled so ridiculously good—clean, woody, expensive, and effortlessly masculine—that even the grumpy train conductor nodded at me like I owned the place. Best start to a week ever.

@Darren Poesel i’ve only had an Apple Watch for the last 11 years, and I’ve been thinking about getting a regular watch now to wear when I go to church and other times that I dress up
