APPROVED: Alliant CU | Fully remote | w/ ITIN | Foreign address
Anyone looking for a US checking / savings account should check out Alliant, the process was pretty straightforward. I was drawn to Alliant specifically because they allowed W-8BENs at initial account opening, and you don't need to have a US address. They are explicitly NRA-friendly, so no in-person visits required either. The only catch is that you need to fill out a "paper" application instead of going through the online process. Here's the link to the form, which you can fax, mail, or send via the chat. I did it via the chat, I just said I wanted to submit a paper application and if they could please forward it to the back office. Documents I submitted: - Signed form (signed in wet ink and scanned) - Passport - ITIN letter - W-8BEN - Utility bill evidencing my street address as stated in the form Timeline: - 17 April – submitted documents via chat - 26 April – received email stating my debit card was shipped on 23 April - 27 April – called them to ask for my member number so I could setup online banking; details sent via secure email (account opening date was stated as 22 April) So overall it was a quick and hassle free process, I'll update this post when I receive my debit card!

@Sable Rivers No, US credit history required as you can also use an address outside of US.

@Sable Rivers Yes normally when they need a US credit profile from you, you will use your US address when you apply that is attached to your credit profile. Also with Alliant when you apply as NRA you will need to submit an application form you can't apply directly online.
Business account
Hello everyone, what is the best business account to open for a new LLC?

@Apple Service Yup I forgot about that you need to have a US personal credit profile for Amex Business Checking.

@A Vas We only have the business debit card but no issues in using it outside of US but most merchant won't accept it though outside of US since according to AMEX they are still working on their business debit cards for more merchant acceptance outside of US compared to their business credit cards.
Best US Business Credit Union Or Bank Account
Hey Guys, we are currently looking for an alternative actual business bank account not like Wise, Revolut, etc. for our LLC. In your experience what's the best business credit union or bank account to open online for non-residents with ITIN, that does not ask for too many requirements and with smooth approval process. This can also help non-residents with C-Corp or other structures as well apart from LLC. Thanks in advanced for your inputs.

@Daniel Johnson Can it be done entirely online? Or does involve calling them via phone?
Amex Business Checking Application Approval
Hi Guys, I will just share our experience in applying for Amex Business Checking account. This happened last year, but I know it will give some of you an idea if you are interested in opening a business checking account for your US LLC, C-Corp, etc., as non US residents. Below are the timelines: 1. We first applied in around September 2024, got denied due to me having no US personal credit profile and history, yup you need a US personal credit to apply for the AMEX business checking account. 2. I did build my US credit history first with my ITIN and then we reapply for the AMEX business checking account almost a year later around August 2025, and it was accepted but it was not instantly approved as AMEX needs to have a notarized copy of my passport due to the passport being issued outside of US, they have me use NotaryCam for notarization which is free, it is a video zoom call type where they would asked you questions, signed a document and then notarize your passport, just be cool when answering the questions, be honest with your answers as AMEX is one of the few banks that doesn't care much about citizenship or residency as long as they can verify your identity. 3. Once notary cam forwarded the video and my notarized passport we were approved for the business checking account in about two days, and then few days later we have received our business debit card, if I am not mistaken you don't have to request for it, they will automatically ship it to your mailing address, it is our main account at the moment. PS: The AMEX business checking account is not the end all be all though just being honest, as AMEX is still considered new into banking products, we have nothing against AMEX though but if you are only a digital based business it is a solid business checking account. Additionally the business debit card is mostly unusable outside of US for physical use but this depends on the merchant for online use outside the US it is alright since we have been informed that it is still a work in progress for acceptance unlike their credit cards and yes you need a US personal credit profile to apply for the business checking account I think they do a soft pull on Experian. We hope this can help some of you in opening a checking account for your US based businesses.

DCU Account Approved After 3 Denials 🎉
Hey cloud brothers, After 3 denials from DCU Federal Credit Union, my account was finally approved! This time, I didn’t use the conventional online application. Instead, I submitted a paper application via email, and I got approved in just about 2 days. Here’s what you need: - DCU membership application form - Passport - ITIN - Proof of address (a statement with your full name that’s at least 30 days old) In my case, I applied on March 1st and initially submitted a statement from January 1–31, which wasn’t accepted. Still, their response was very quick. P.S.: You need to fill out the form, print it, sign it, scan it, and then upload it to the email address indicated on the form itself. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
