Started going with the harder ones
For the first few weeks of the project, I've mostly focused on the "easy to thank" people. Clients and business relationships. In my world, that's an endless bucket to pull from, and they are always well received. It's safe! There are a few guy friends from my church who have never received a thank-you card from me. It's a pretty conservative Christian community, so I never knew how well they'd be received. But I'm really leaning into this concept that "relationships can only go as deep as your willingness to be vulnerable." So I wrote two guys in my community Thank you cards. I wrote one. Ripped it up. Typed a new one, then wrote it...honestly...spent about 20 minutes on it. That sounds extreme, doesn't it? Maybe. But we aren't here to check a box. There is no prize if you finish your 30-day challenge. The prize IS the relationship. The prize is the PEACE you experience knowing you've left nothing unsaid. Don't miss the assignment. Challenge yourself. Grow. Learn something about yourself. That's where the juice is.

Love this. I wrote notes to three of the women in my mom's development that have really looked out for her since my father passed a year and a half ago. They may think it is weird, but I am grateful for them.

@John Israel 😂 I mean let's be honest ... I am a little weird and I am okay with it. I actually put 20 handwritten notes in the mail today. 5 thank yous, about 10 birthdays, an anniversary and 2 housiversaries. People think I am nuts for writing that many cards ... but I know it brings joy to others ... so screw it! HAHAHA!
Easier ...
I sat down at my desk this morning, and honestly felt the thank yous coming even easier than the previous days. I know not every day will feel this way, but will appreciate the ones that do.
Easier ...
I don't like what I wrote!
Just wondering if anybody has ever thrown away the card they just wrote because you realized what you wrote was dumb or inauthentic...? What do you do in this instance? Is the goal/quantity more important than the quality?

Before you said inauthentic … I was going to say that I promise you whatever you wrote was NOT dumb. You saying thank you in a handwritten note can sometimes be the only thank you that person hears that day, that week, that month, that year … and I promise you that it is not dumb to them! Now the inauthentic thought … that is a different piece …
Metal Thank You card
A few years ago, my friend, the late John Ruhlin taught me the concept of taking the extravagant and making it simple while taking the simple and making it extravagant. He would send sheets of steel as thank you cards to clients, which I promptly had to adopt into my own business. These things are legendary and blow my clients minds. Because they do cost $6-10 each we don’t send them to everyone, but for people you really want to make a strong impression on…these sure do the trick. This one goes out to a client who just booked me for a speech in April. It’s always good for people to see us practice what we preach.

I received one of these, and I still have it on my desk. Sometimes I use it as a bookmark, but often it is just a gentle reminder.
Another awesome day!
Today I sent thank yous to my office receptionist, two friends who are also Realtors and always love and support me (personally and professionally), and then two women who worked on my business rebranding (which I have been launching last week and this week with incredible response). Love this challenge!
