Hi! Hmmmm… My thoughts are 1. The resin itself … you might need a different brand. Or just the white. 2. Did you prep the surface before adding the resin? (Aka clean with isopropyl or similar) 3. What temperature was your work space? Resin generally likes 70-75F… I’ve done higher, but too hot = hot mess!
Never give up! My very first attempt…

Never give up! My very first attempt…
Solid Learning!
1. So… I became lazy with my timing and am grateful for your clear explanation. Can’t wait to get back to basics in the studio 2. I’m very Interested in learning about dust protection materials/configurations while curing. I create on a small scale and use clear storage boxes to protect from dust. How does everyone do it? Especially you, Lauren, in the warehouse? 3. Very interested in advanced techniques. Any chance someone has played w sunrises or clouds? 4. Super interested in learning how to move from hobby to business (what worked, what didn’t, etc). Lauren, I’m so glad you had the courage!
My attempt without this class
Hi! Before taking this class, I had already tried making a few boards. I had a basic understanding of how to mix resin, but that was about it. Since then, I’ve learned a lot that will help me improve in the future—especially the importance of timing and experimenting more with color pigments. I also noticed that using too much heat burned the white resin and turned it yellow. Another issue I ran into was not leveling the work table. I think once I change these little things my waves will be better.

Thanks for sharing! Are these your first boards? They’re good! My first attempt (years ago) was T E R R I B L E ! I saved it to remind myself how far I’ve come.

Former Color Chemist turned Accountant… needed a Covid hobby to be creative, and still “science-y”… found ocean resin and my mind was blown!
