My attempt without this class
Hi! Before taking this class, I had already tried making a few boards. I had a basic understanding of how to mix resin, but that was about it. Since then, I’ve learned a lot that will help me improve in the future—especially the importance of timing and experimenting more with color pigments. I also noticed that using too much heat burned the white resin and turned it yellow. Another issue I ran into was not leveling the work table. I think once I change these little things my waves will be better.

@Olivier Hebert I pored the green on top and used the popsicle stick to smear it down. At the time my boards where not level and I did not let the epoxy set a little before pouring.

make sure you have a bigger stick around 8 inches. i used a little one like in the picture and was having problems, I ordered larger size from amazon.

how long did you wait after mixing to pour? Is your artwork level?

This looks really nice. I’ve haven’t even had a chance to try out the new techniques I’ve learned.

TFD is a big inspiration!
Hi everyone! This is one of the boards I've practiced on. Your comments and suggestions are more than welcome!

I think practicing on plywood or MDF might be a better option until your technique is dialed in. I really like the transition from dark colors to blue—it’s got a great look! Quick question: did you time your epoxy pour and check the temperature? I picked up a temperature reader myself and will be doing some practice runs soon. Also, are you planning to engrave on this piece? I’d suggest leaving a bit more open space for that. It’ll make the design pop even more.

I make custom laser-cut door hangers that add a little charm to your space. I can’t wait to add these custom resin boards.
