Stone build
I picked up this sheet of tiles on a walk last week after spotting it on the side of the road. I instantly fell in love with the colour and texture of the stone. As always, I have no idea what I’m building—I just let the materials lead the way. I used an old picture frame as the base and cut the tiles to fit. I stripped the backing off each piece with a knife before gluing the stone onto the frame. A woodworking friend gave me a bundle of cedar strips, which I used to build the walls. The flooring is made from coffee stir sticks. For the roof, I found a piece of bark and added a branch I cut from a bush last fall. The last photo shows the build in its current state. I’ll keep refining the roof, add another section of flooring beneath it, and then move on to the moss work and all the little details that bring it to life.

In love with this!
New roof technique!
After covering the body of this house with clay and decorating with windows I wanted to add a roof that was triangular, but still allowed the cap to come off and would work outside. I came up with using drink stirs (smaller than regular wood popsicle sticks) to make the cone framework and then covered with silk leaves and pinecone scales. Easy to screw on and off to add lights inside!

@Jan Miller-Klein have you experimented with sealing them? I am spraying with a heavy coat of spray on sealant after total cure. They have not been out in a full rainstorm yet but so far humidity is not deteriorating them.
Concrete Application!
Sharing a timelapse reel of using concrete patch to cover a glass jar before decorating and painting. Happy to answer any questions here or on IG, and if you are Maryland based come visit for an in-person workshop where I provide all materials! https://www.instagram.com/reel/DZVUI-rRr7C/?igsh=ODIzejlqMGhoZDZx

@Agnes Ryckman just wanted to make sure! 🥰
My kit house WIP
I need to seal it before I finish it. Then I'm planning on putting moss on the roof. Unfortunately, I put the house together before I got my accessories kit, so I'll have to wait for the next one to put it in. Oh, and I covered the chimney with river rock.

In love with the colors you picked - it will go great with moss while still popping outside!
Testing materials and launching a workshop series!
Experimenting with both das air dry clay and cement patch as mediums for “siding”, I am enjoying both! The air dry clay is less messy, but the concrete patch I find to be more forgiving and easier to re-wet and continue smoothing/thinning into a layer. (Green roof bottle is concrete patch and the orange and red tops are clay) Have you used any other mediums? How do they compare? I am offering two workshops types for “sip and craft” as well as “mom and me”. For local wineries using the wine bottle base and riding facilities using their horseshoes as doors, but would like to beef the horseshoe craft up a bit with more of a house structure behind the door. Welcoming any input!

@Peg Dolan your source for those is @Mary Bachmann! So many to choose from on www.maryinthefairyland.com and they are the perfect scale for adding to bottles.

@Mary Bachmann much cheaper actually - The Das air dry clay I was getting about 2 wine bottles coverage out of a $12 pack that is 2.2lbs (1kg), so about $6 each in clay. Concrete patch is $11 and I could probably get 20 bottles worth out of it 😅. It also dries enough within an hour to paint it, unlike clay needing to fully cure and be sprayed with sealant which is helpful in a workshop setting (wanting a finished piece in a 2hr window). https://www.lowes.com/pd/Sika-32-oz-Acrylic-Concrete-Patch/999977068
