Mounjaro - Don't underestimate walking!
One thing I never really thought about before Mounjaro was how much easier normal movement could feel. I’m not talking about training or intense workouts. I mean walking, climbing stairs, playing with the kids and getting through a busy day without everything feeling like hard work. Mounjaro helped me massively with appetite and food noise. But getting fitter came from what I did alongside it. Walking more, training consistently, eating enough protein and slowly building habits I could maintain. The scales matter. But one of the best parts of losing weight is realising your body is no longer fighting you throughout the day. If you’re early in your journey, don’t underestimate walking. It doesn’t need to be fast or intense. Start with what you can manage and gradually build from there. How much walking are you currently doing each day? Has it become easier since starting your journey?

I've been walking an average of 15,000 steps per day - it helps that I live in a very walkable city. As I already mentioned on your FB feed, I play a lot of competitive slowpitch softball. I feel so much more mobile, agile, stronger and faster now, and it's really showing in my personal performance on the field. A question to you Mark (and everyone else here): I like to ride my bicycle to work and back home during the summer months. Do you think walking can be replaced by bicycle riding (not intensive like mountain biking, but with an incline riding home)?
Mounjaro Injection Sites
For the first ten months on Mounjaro, I never really felt much difference between injection sites. I used my stomach, upper thighs and the back of my arm and if anything, I thought my stomach was my best area. That has completely changed over the last couple of months. My stomach has gone from being my go-to area to the one place I now avoid. I can’t say for certain why. I’ve lost over 12 stone from my heaviest and I do have loose skin around my stomach now, so maybe I’m not hitting the fatty area the same way I used to. Maybe absorption has changed. I genuinely don’t know. But I do know how it feels. When I inject into my thigh or the back of my arm, the Mounjaro feels much more effective for me. There is no comparison at the moment. It’s a good reminder to pay attention to your own body. What worked at the start might not always feel the same later on. Has anyone else noticed a difference depending on where they inject?

It's always been more effective for me in the stomach, but I'm having the same issues with finding a spot now since I've lost almost all of my belly fat. Might try the thigh again.
Can You Inject Mounjaro Straight From the Fridge?
Yes, you can inject Mounjaro cold straight from the fridge, but I personally find that it stings more when it is cold. I keep my Mounjaro in the fridge, so before each injection I take it out for around 30 minutes and allow it to come up to room temperature. I find it much more comfortable that way. The important thing to remember is that once the pen reaches room temperature for the first time, you then have 30 days to use it. From that point, it can stay in a cupboard or press. It does not need to remain cold. Just keep it out of direct sunlight and below 30°C. If you are spacing out your doses during maintenance, you need to take that 30-day window into account. You may either need to inject it cold or remove the amount you need using an insulin syringe. The same issue applies if you use the additional medication left in the pen after the four standard doses, often called the golden dose. Because the pen would then last around five weeks, the timing of when it first reaches room temperature matters. Using an insulin syringe or taking the additional medication left in the pen is outside the standard manufacturer instructions, so make sure you understand what you are doing and speak to your prescriber if you are unsure. For the normal four weekly injections, the pen does not need to stay in the fridge after the first dose. I still keep mine there because I know exactly where it is and I know it is being stored safely. Do you inject yours cold or leave it out for a while first?

Are fasting and low carb a mistake on Mounjaro?
I think fasting and going low carb while using Mounjaro can sometimes be a mistake. That does not mean either approach is automatically bad. Some people genuinely enjoy fasting and others feel better eating fewer carbs. But there is a difference between choosing an eating style that suits you and forcing yourself into another extreme diet because you believe you need to be as strict as possible. Mounjaro already reduces hunger and food noise. For me, one of its biggest benefits is that it gives us the chance to move away from the approaches that repeatedly failed us before. We should not need to combine it with tiny calories, long periods without food, cutting out entire food groups or feeling guilty whenever we eat something we enjoy. A lot of us have followed those plans before. We managed them for a few weeks or months and lost some weight. Then life happened, we could not maintain the restrictions and we eventually returned to our old habits. That is how we risk wasting the opportunity Mounjaro gives us. The goal should not be to lose as much weight as possible in the shortest amount of time. It should be to build a way of eating that still works when life gets busy, when we go out for dinner, when we have a holiday and when we eventually reduce or stop the medication. Use this time to learn balance. Eat carbohydrates. Go out for meals. Have the pizza. Track your calories if it helps you stay aware of your intake. Then move on without guilt or panic. The goal is not to become better at extreme dieting. It is to build something you can realistically continue long term. I would be interested to hear everyone’s thoughts. Have you found yourself becoming more restrictive since starting Mounjaro or has it helped you finally move away from strict dieting?

I completely agree. The only thing I've really concentrated on are my calorie and protein targets. I never worried about reducing carbs, which you need if you do intensive strength/weight training. If your meals are well-balanced, everything else falls into place.
Maintenance Phase
Thank you Mark for accepting my membership request! I have really been enjoying reading your posts and watching your videos about your incredible journey - they are incredibly inspiring! I started with Mounjaro on January 28th when I weighed 93.3 kg, am now at 73.8 kg (-19.5kg!), and am approaching my target weight of 72 kg. Also, I started with 2.5mg and have stayed on that dose. I have also been diligently working out 3 times per week and have completely changed how I look at nutrition and eating in general. I am already starting to prepare for the transition to my maintenance phase, so my question to you is, what does your maintenance routine look like? Have you lengthened the intervals between your injections, increased your calorie intake, etc.? Would love to hear your input (also from others here who have transitioned to maintenance)!

@Samantha Torres oh, and I've been walking 12.000-15.000 steps per day

@Samantha Torres I think walking really helped with the weight loss. Getting a PT was also a good decision; it really helped me put structure and purpose into my workouts. He is also a weight-loss coach, so it was the perfect combination.
