that feeling of replaying an annoying interaction over and over in your head when you are trying to sleep is the absolute worst. it happens to everyone because when someone deliberately pushes your buttons, your nervous system gets locked into a fight or flight loop, and standard breathing exercises sometimes just are not enough to break that physical tension right away. one thing that helps when your mind is spinning like that is doing a complete brain dump. literally grab a notebook and write down every single frustrated thought exactly as you are thinking it, unfiltered, until there is nothing left in your head. once it is physically out of your skull and on paper, your brain finally feels like it has permission to stop holding onto it. changing your physical environment or doing a heavy physical reset like a hard workout or a freezing cold shower can also shock your system out of that rumination loop. how do you usually try to decompress when an event gets under your skin like that?
