Struggling with inconsistent income while building your business?
One thing I don’t see talked about enough in this space is the pressure that comes from not having consistent income while trying to grow. I’ve been there. When I first started, funding was honestly one of my biggest challenges. Deals take time, things don’t always go as planned, and relying on unpredictable income made it stressful to stay consistent and focused. What really helped me wasn’t some big breakthrough deal…It was finding a way to bring in consistent income on the side while I was building. That stability changed everything for me: - Less pressure to rush deals - More confidence in decision making - Ability to reinvest back into my business I’m not sharing this to pitch anything, just to give perspective for anyone who might be feeling stuck or overwhelmed right now. Curious to hear from you guys: What’s been your biggest challenge when it comes to funding or staying consistent?

Introduction
Hello everyone! My name is Anthony and I’m based in the North Texas (DFW) area. I come from a military logistics background and have spent 8+ years as a heavy renter and traveler, staying in all kinds of short‑term and long‑term rentals. However, I have 0 experience running a business so this is certainly a new venture for me. Over the years I’ve noticed a gap between glossy photos and how a place actually lives and feels. This is what pushed me to start this project, along with my passion for travel vlogging. I’m building a ‘renter‑first’ lifestyle and infrastructure certification bureau for rental properties. I visit a property in person, do a structured 4K walk-through, and then provide a clear scorecard, an improvement roadmap, and (if it qualifies) a Certified badge. It’s not a code inspection or anything legal/regulatory. It’s about real‑world comfort, usability, and modern essentials like noise and connectivity. Operators also gain a competitive edge from monthly newsletter features and social media exposure. The goal is to set clearer expectations, attract better‑fit guests/tenants, and help good operators stand out in crowded markets. Right now I’m here to learn from experienced operators and potentially connect with a few owners/hosts who’d be willing to take a chance on me during the pilot phase, which will be launching soon in DFW. Looking forward to chatting soon. Stay blessed!

@Anthony Thibault Welcome this is a solid idea, especially coming from real renter experience. I like how you’re focusing on the actual living experience vs just what looks good online… that gap is very real. That kind of perspective can really help operators stand out in a crowded market. From what I’ve seen working with others, ideas like this really take off when you stay close to real feedback and keep refining what people truly value most. I’m big on sharing what’s working and learning from each other, so I’d be happy to exchange ideas with you as you build this out. What’s been the biggest insight you’ve noticed so far from renters that most operators are still overlooking?
