What’s Harder In Your Opinion ?
Recently, @Chris Legaspi, @Gimmel Goffe and I had a really interesting conversation and Drawing vs Painting. I’m in the belief that personally, drawing and linework is much more difficult than painting. Where describing form In line is extremely difficult for me because my brain starts drawing my ideas of what I’m looking at, instead of what’s actually going on. As opposed to painting, I’m forced to see edge and value and describe it as such. So what do you guys think? Is line drawing harder or easier than painting in your experience?

@Chris Legaspi interesting perspective on the topic. I find line drawing much easier than mass drawing-maybe why painting was challenge to undertake. Could be that drawing instruments are more You can carry a pencil or pen around anywhere and practice. It doesn’t make for a very sophisticated drawing however, if that’s all you depend on. Mass drawing requires a comfort with light and shadows and needs the right environment I think at least.

@Chris Legaspi I’ve known people that had it. It is interesting Sometimes the eyelids droop and make it hard to see. But otherwise, why do something that makes you look less than who you are? My own thought of course.

To keep myself honest, two photos. A disastrous beginning. I didn’t use simple shapes as a foundation. And a better one
Portrait study
For the past three weeks, I wouldn’t say I had a rough time, but my days weren’t the best either. Before that, I was working on my 100 heads challenge and reached a point where I started questioning myself and my skills. For context, I usually work two days a week in a warehouse—it’s a nice job, not too hard. But I ran short on money, so I decided to get a second job until uni starts. The second warehouse job was physically exhausting—I had to lift heavy weights—and on top of that, the people there weren’t very kind. Even though I knew it was only temporary, I felt guilty for not painting. I missed drawing and painting so much. In the end, this experience made me realize I shouldn’t overthink things so much. I just need to paint or draw because I love it, no matter the outcome. I finished this portrait study today, and I am so happy I finally painted.

great portrait. It’s good you stuck with it and understand what’s really important
Finally!
I wanted to ask whether anyone else out there can spend day after day drawing horrible faces before something you are pleased with finally appears on the paper. I think I've ripped up more pages this week than I have in the last 4 years ( not something I do really) - until at last I managed to draw this one. ❤️ I'm trying to stay positive and be "interested" in how I can be so inconsistent all of a sudden - and am keen to hear how other folk manage to get through a patch like this.
Finally!

This is a very nice drawing 😊. I’m sure we all deal with this. I remember Patrick Jones saying during a live stream “ we all draw stinkers at times Even Michelangelo did”. I guess there are some drawings out there that just aren’t what we would have expected of him ( Michelangelo -Patrick probably won’t post his). If he could have bad days, we have the permission to do so as well
