Steel Wire Brush vs. Nylon Brush
When first starting out it's important to know what the best use and function of your tools are going to be. One of the most important tools you will have are your pool brushes. They come in different lengths and configurations. One critical difference is the steel wire vs. nylon brush. Steel brushes should be used gently and minimally. Mainly the are used to brush black algae spots and not the whole pool. If you do use them on black algae in one pool, then don't re-use them in a clean pool somewhere else. Keep that brush for only use in black algae pools. As for the Nylon brushes, focus on buying the ones with aluminum on the backside for strength. We also like the ones that curve at the ends. These are easier to get into the corners of the pools.

Did a ride-a-long with an owner operator who used a chlorine tab that he put onto the end of a pole and used that for black algae. Thought it was interesting.

@Edmund Shahbazyan good to know. How do pools get it in the first place?
Pool Vacuum’s
I see a lot of companies talking about/using vacuums but I don’t see anything in the classroom about them. I’m guessing these are a necessity. Am I wrong? Which brands are the best?

So not a necessity, but sounds like it’d help speed things up and save future time cleaning as well
Cyclone Pool Filter Holder
Anyone else have one of these? If so, does it work well? Is it worth it?

@Edmund Shahbazyan will do!
Premium Pricing with Filter Cleans Included?
What are your thoughts on positioning yourself as a truly "all inclusive" maintenance company? I.E. charge what you would normally end up getting throughout the year for 3 filter cleans but just bake it into your price. Chems, cleaning, and light maintenance all for one price of $XXX (filter cleans, other small maintenance items that should be done yearly or more). The good, the bad, and the ugly???

@Edmund Shahbazyan are there any other maintenance related things (like filter cleans) that need to be done every so often?

@Edmund Shahbazyan makes sense. Appreciate you as always!
Saltwater vs Chlorine
Is there a big difference in the maintenance of these two different pool types? If so what is it and which is easier?

@Edmund Shahbazyan great info. Seems like they’re probably about the same maintenance wise then. What’s the reasoning for 1-2 chlorine tablets if it’s 100 degrees or more?
