Short presentation of myself.
Hi everyone, I'm Ejnar from Denmark, although I've been living in rural Thailand for the past 11 years. I am a retired social educator. I recently finished my first KDP book after several months of building not just the book, but an entire publishing workflow around it. The book is called Together We: Mythical Creatures, a coloring book designed to create meaningful shared moments between children and adults. I'm not interested in chasing quick wins or publishing hundreds of low-quality books. My goal is to build a long-term brand with books that people genuinely enjoy and come back to. I'm currently starting Book #2 in the series, which focuses on ancient civilizations, and I'm looking forward to learning more about marketing, branding, and sustainable publishing from this community. Looking forward to learning from all of you!

@Dash H I build a "frame" around a bookseries. A brand, with tonerules, colors, fonts and everything belonging to a brand. I also made a detailed workflow for how to produce my books. It took me 3-4 month to do (also because I had to learn a lot on the way: AI, Canva, keyword search and more). I expect it to reduce the time spend on each book by 75% - and still keep a high quality. I just published the first one and now work on number two...although I see things I want to change (make better) it goes a lot faster.

In fact, the first book went "live" just a few days ago. I haven't finished setting everything up on KDP yet, so I have virtually no experience to speak of so far, but I have a gut feeling that I’m onto something—though, of course, I could be wrong. When I stumbled upon Dave’s videos on YouTube and joined this community, I discovered just how strikingly similar his ideas are to mine. Naturally, he is much further along than I am, so I definitely find inspiration here.
Book Cover Creation
So, as we know, the book cover is your 24 hour salesman. What methods/software do you use to create your book covers? I realize that I can use AI and get the job done, but I'm wondering if there's a specific software, agent, or prompt that can streamline, and speed up the process, while delivering a worthy book cover. Cheers! 👍😊

I use ChatGPT to create mockups. I discuss with the chatbot the message I want to convey. I have a set of brand colors and fonts that I want to use. Based on the discussion, a mockup is generated, which I then use to create a draft in Canva. I go back to ChatGPT for feedback—going back and forth until I’m satisfied.
🎉 We just hit 5,000 subscribers on YouTube, and I wanna say thank you the right way [50% DISCOUNT for 48h]
I'm kinda blown away right now. When I started this whole thing, I wasn't sure anyone would care about self-publishing done the strategic way instead of the volume-and-ads grind. And now there's 5,000 of you who decided this stuff was worth watching. That's not a number to me. That's proof that the approach we're building here actually resonates with real people trying to build something real. So THANK YOU. Every single one of you. And because a milestone like this shouldn't be a solo party, I wanna give something back. First, both courses just got a big upgrade. Content Marketing for Self-Publishers and Email Marketing for Self-Publishers now come with: 📄 A full downloadable PDF version of the entire course — so you can read it wherever you want, mark it up, keep it forever 🎧 Downloadable audio for every single lesson — so you can listen on a walk, in the car, at the gym, whenever Same courses, way more ways to actually use them and let the material sink in. Amazing.
An evolution I'm thinking about (and I want your honest take)
I've got something I wanna run past you, and I genuinely want your honest answer. When I started this channel it was all about self-publishing, and that's still a huge part of what I do. But the truth is I've never been only a self-publisher. I've built other businesses over the years, online and offline, because relying on one single way to make money has always felt risky to me. A lot of what I teach about KDP actually comes from general online business principles, things like how to sell digital products. So I'm considering an evolution. Turning the channel into more of a personal brand under my name, where I'm free to talk about everything I know, how to make money online with different methods, how to sell digital products, how YouTube works as a business, all of it, with KDP still right in the mix. Here's the part I think actually matters for you. When you understand all these business models, you stop seeing them as separate things and you start mixing them, using the advantages of each one together, and that's where the real money is. That's exactly what I do. Self-publishing is one of my main businesses, but it's not the only one, and the best thing I can show you is everything I do, not just the KDP slice of it. You'd get to see how the whole thing fits together. And honestly, I might show you more than just the business side. More of how I actually live, the day to day, because I think some of you would appreciate seeing that my life is pretty normal. I just have a different job than most people. It's a different way of living, but I'm a regular guy, and that's kind of the point, because if I can do this, you can too. Before I commit to anything though, I wanna hear from you ❤️

I think it would be great if we can get some ideas on how to "integrate" SoMe in the KDP bussiness. I am new to this, but as an "older guy" (I am 66) all these things is something I have to pick up on...so go for it.
Big news for the community.
I just discovered that Gumroad — where all my products live — has a feature called Purchasing Power Parity, and I've enabled it across everything. Here's what that means: if you're buying from a country where the cost of living is lower, you automatically get a discount. No code needed. No form to fill. It applies on its own the moment you open a product page. The discount can go up to 50% depending on where you're buying from. I noticed more and more people from different countries joining the community, and it made me think — $60 might be nothing for someone buying in euros with a Western European salary, and it might be a real barrier for someone in a completely different economic reality. That's not a reason to keep people out of the method. So I turned it on. If you want to see exactly what discount you're getting based on your location, head to elevatepublishers.com, open any product, and you'll see it applied automatically. That's it. Just wanted to make sure everyone here knew. Dave
