Mitochondrial Fix Protocol
So I thought I'd document what I'm up to as I've felt crap for many years overall, sometimes just a little niggle. This is the protocol from https://derekpruski.substack.com/p/energy-peptides-course-complete-mitochondrial?utm_source=publication-search Realistic expectations by phase: Week 2-4 (Post-FOX04): - Slight improvement in baseline energy - Reduced inflammation feeling - Foundation cleaned Week 6 (End of SS-31 phase): - 20-40% better mitochondrial function - Noticeably better workouts - Improved recovery Week 10 (End of MOTS-c addition): - This is the big jump - Metabolic flexibility restored - Energy dramatically more stable - Fasted training comfortable - 50-70% total improvement from baseline Week 14 (End of NAD+ addition): - Mental clarity peaked - Full optimization beginning - 70-85% total improvement from baseline Week 20 (Full optimization maintained): - Peak benefits - 85-95% total improvement from baseline - New normal established - Can maintain or adjust as needed

So far I have done the FOX04DRI which made me want to curl up and go to sleep, and then a week of SS31 which made me weak and at the gym I had to press the 10% deficit button to get through it. I have learnt anecdotally that Fox04DRI makes people feel like that when it is working and also SS31 makes the people who need it the most feel that way too, so I have to keep my fingers crossed. This is a comment off YouTube "Anyone who notices a worsening of CFS symptoms or tiredness from ss31 or motc it's indicative of heavy mitochondrial dysfunction and it's known as a paradoxical reaction and although it's unpleasant it's a sign you need to continue." "Eventually there will be a day that all symptoms are gone usually 2-4 weeks like a switch is flipped."

They are definitely betting on these types for the future. Ben Bikman seemed to think Amylin was important for the future in one of his video comments.
Post 5 · Eating more fat does not make you lose more fat😮
This is the most repeated claim in low-carb and carnivore spaces, and it needs to be taken apart carefully, because half of it is true. Researchers added 50 g of fat to a standard breakfast. They measured the next 6 hours, then the next 18. Fat oxidation: no increase. Energy expenditure: no increase. The extra fat: stored. It made no difference whether the subject was aerobically fit. (Bennett et al., 1992, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition; R§26) This wasn't a one-off. Three years earlier, a respiration-chamber study added 106 g of fat per day. Twenty-four-hour energy expenditure: unchanged. Fat oxidation: unchanged. Energy balance tracked fat balance at r = 0.96, and didn't track carbohydrate balance at all. (Schutz et al., 1989, same journal; R§26) Two independent experiments, different labs, three years apart, same answer. At maintenance, eating fat does not raise the oxidation of your own fat. No deficit was asking for it. Now the half that's true. A high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet does raise the rate at which your body can oxidise fat. Within days. In a 33-study analysis of athletes, all 30 that measured it found the rate up by 28% to 200%. (R§29) And one crossover showed it's the fat doing it, not the missing carbohydrate. So the machinery retools fast. What doesn't change is how much body fat you lose at the same energy. That's set by the deficit, and by fat eaten minus fat oxidised. In a metabolic ward, an 80%-fat diet at the same energy slowed body-fat loss. (Hall et al., 2016; R§27) Rate up, balance unchanged. Two different quantities, and the argument only works if you keep them apart. There's also a mechanism working directly against you here, and almost nobody mentions it. Ketones suppress lipolysis through a receptor called HCA2. Tested head-to-head, ketone infusion abrogates growth-hormone-driven lipolysis. When ketones are high, the brake overrides the accelerator. Ketones made from your own fat throttle appropriately; you drew down the store to make them.

@Shaun Womersley All I eat is protein and fat so it is just the mix. There is fatigue in the side effects of SS31 but it seems unlikely to me that such low amounts could do that which leaves me with the drop in fat over the last week. Not a great amount, I've just cut all fat from my chuck which still includes a bit of fat whilst cooking, so not sure how much from a kg+ a day. And of course as Richard says could just be one of those things, but even later was tired even lifting my arms all afternoon.

@Shaun Womersley all three are possible so I will keep an eye on it. It was push which is my hardest and legs are next which have been amazing in the last three months but I've gone from 75kg to 155kg and I think Monday is around 160kg so it will be interesting to see how strong they are. But at least if there is a problem I will find it on warm up.
App question
The 'actual weight used', bit on the app is set at the correct warm up weight. If I go to adjust it with the up/down arrow things, it starts at .25kg instead of the original warm up weight and I have to go all the way up to get to the correct weight. Is that everyones experience who has used it. I know you've used it @Daniel Parker. If not, is that something that's easily fixable @Shaun Womersley

@Shaun Womersley I think the only other thing that needs updating with this is the progress personal records which don't yet show true.

@Shaun Womersley Fantastic thanks
Biceps exercise help
As I have mentioned numerous times, my shoulder pain is a constant companion, and I do mean constant. It sits somewhere around the groove where the anterior head meets the lateral head. It never lessens, and never leaves. Shoulder mobility exercises have yet to garner a result, Tom Morrison has plenty to choose from. Anyway, to the point of my question. Dumbbell curls are jaw droppingly painful. I've tried external rotation of the hands, straight on, alternate sides; If you can dream it, I've tried it (that doesn't include Shaun of course;-) Don't get me wrong, I'm old school and give it all I've got, despite the pain, and my biceps ache like hell for days afterwards, but my progress is definitely being hindered. What other exercises could I try the may reduce the effect of the shoulder pain on going to failure? Remember, I'm not one of you yuppies with a membership to a fancy gym.

Love the yuppy...none of us are young though and probably not upwardly mobile either. 😁
