Pricing with Confidence
While this is not technically related to headlight restoration, it WILL help all of you who listen to it. This goes right in line with not pricing with your own wallet. Also, if you don’t know Chris’ videos, his stuff, consistently listened too, will help you level up your mental game and grow your financial blue print

The questions you can ask the client to be asking the “other shops they call” are After they give you the price, you’ll want to make sure if two things. 1.what type of uv protection are they putting on at the end. And 2. What type of warranty do they offer. If they are not putting a uv protection on, that is a big red flag and reason they are going to be cheaper than us. (I literally say this next part) that would be like you sending your young children out to the beach in the middle of summer with no sunscreen, and then being surprised when they get extremely sunburnt.
Nextdoor Help
Hey! I’ve heard small business’ can get great results on Nextdoor but I have never used it in any capacity. Does anybody have tips or youtube video links on how to use it to grow this business? Im still getting almost all clients just from word of mouth/ me going up to people so i’d like to learn how to get some clients online. Thanks in advance!

On Nextdoor, I personally keep a personal acct and not business one. And then just have my entire bio and cover photo clearly headlight restoration oriented. I don’t pay to boost ads. I post 4-7 times a week and it’s never a salesy post like “25% off. Book today.” It’s always a story sharing what the clients said. Sometimes I make up the clients name but it’s like this “mark and Amy were worried because they couldn’t see much of anything at night. They’d been to the dealership and were told they needed to replace their headlights at a cost of $800 per headlight! They went to Google and found us and were delighted to get their lights restored for less than $300! Amy said she loved how we came to their house and they didn’t have to go drop their vehicle off anywhere. If you’re ready to see better at night, call or text us for a quote”
Need Advice…
I left all my chemicals (more than $1000) dollars worth out in the KC winter weather for more than a few days. Probably around a month and it’s gotten down to 20 degrees at points. Are they trashed? Do I have to totally replace them?

Depends on what they are. Some of them will likely be ruined. Glass cleaner would be okay. If it’s a clear coat, it depends on what they are. Ya just need to see what they are like and get them back to warm. Shake and see if they look any different. If they’re ruined, you’ll see them separated and looking almost like they have floating solids in them. Note to self, don’t let em freeze again haha I’ve had it happen too.
How To “guidebook”(PDF)
We made a step-by-step how to guide because a lot of you asked for a PDF version. While the reading/text part is very much outside my comfort zone or wheelhouse, a new I needed to make time to do it because there are many different learning styles. Hopefully this helps some of you any feedback y’all have on it. You’re welcome to share here. Remember, don’t overthink it. it’s just plastic

Don’t price with your own wallet!
This 2008 Hyundai ELANTRA that I did today, I’m pretty sure it’s a $1500-$2000 car and my natural inclination is to want to only do the lower service or discount my price. But instead, I chose to offer the service at the price that is a value based price and let the client decide what they want to do. She chose the higher tier that I offer and this job was $200 Cause they buy cheap cheaper online? Maybe so. Remember that the aftermarket lights are cheaper for a reason. Actually many reasons. As long as they’re not badly damage or have moisture inside, keeping the OEM lights is always the best option The reason why she was adamant about paying more for this service was because she wanted to have the vehicle safe to drive at night again (FYI - this was done with the new vapor system that Jason(owner of headlight magic) and I are about to launch) ••• A lot of times, if not every single time, the reason why people flinch at the “higher price“ is because you would not pay for it, they would not either. Clients are smart and consent the desperation and that you don’t believe in what you were offering Know your worth and remember at the end of the day it’s just plastic. You are not offering just a cosmetic service but rather a safety that you were giving back to the clients.

@Ben Burnett when I look back at my own objections that I used to get, it’s because I did NOT want to pay that price for a restoration. The clients can sense that. We have to fully believe in and be excited about it. And be like “how soon are you wanting to get them restored?” Not “how’s that sound” or “do you want to do that” I assume that EVERY person who calls/reaches out WANTS to get it done and that they WANT to choose me. Another question you can ask up front Is “what made you call us?” You’re wanted to find out, out of all the people they could choose, why are they choosing you?

@Ben Burnett also, check out Chris Voss On you YouTube. He wrote a book called “never split the difference” and used to be the head of negotiations for the FBI. their “close rates” at the fbi were OVER 90% 🤯 I would recommend listening to any/every video and podcast that he is on and start implementing his stuff into your daily life.
