Operating Manual Part 2 summary
Staying up late is a kind of self-rescue, a way to guard the only hours where the daily battle is called off. But this late-night freedom borrows against tomorrow's reserves, making the next day feel even louder and more terrifying, which drives my need to escape again. I am realizing I don't have a discipline problem—I have just been putting out fires with gasoline because it was the only thing within reach. My body actually already knows how to find true calm through focused attention, emotional release, and self-witnessing, and the key out of this loop starts with one small morning move. Can't wait to learn the move in part 3! 🤗

@Linda Trup Oooo, favorites are always hard to pick since I'm so indecisive lol! I will attempt to pick 3... Rent, The Sound of Music, Anything Goes.

@Leonie Osborne I'm so glad to hear that you are having improvements! I feel like I have more wobbles than successes lol, but I recognize that I am putting the effort in towards it every night. It doesn't always work, but I'm proud of myself for actively trying. I think it also has to do with what I have to do the next day. If I have a busy day ahead, I want to sleep more and better. However, the anxiety of the busy day tends to make it hard lol. But, if I have a slow day coming, I think I allow myself to stay up and enjoy my 'me' time. It's a catch-22! 🙃
Hot!!! 🥵
My air conditioning decided to get tired today. It's 87 F (30.5 C) in the house, and 113 F (45 C) outside. Makes it really hard to get tasks or much of anything done lol. I'm thinking to take a cold shower, but the water doesn't really even get that cold here in the summer. Lukewarm to lukecold is the best to ask for... 😂 The a/c company is coming tomorrow to check the unit. How does one get motivated to be productive when they're hot?! 🙃

@Lynn Berry Yes, the cold wet neck cloths! When I was a kid, we went camping every summer and drove. Our car for many of the years didn't have air conditioning, so we kept a little cooler of wet washcloths to put on our necks. Simple, but effective!

@Linda Trup Winters are definitely warmer and shorter here too. I hope to go to the UK someday. There's a Liddicoat Butchers pasty shop in Cornwall that would be fun to visit too! Could be distant relatives who originally opened it lol

Thank you! Congratulations to all the winners! ❤️
Exhausted by over functioning
Exhaustion can come from doing too much for everyone else and it’s not because you were asked to. Because somewhere along the way YOU decided that your value lived in how useful you were. You anticipate what people need before they ask. You fix things before they break. You carry the weight of situations that aren't yours to carry. And then you wonder why you feel empty. Overfunctioning is what happens when someone has learned that being needed is safer.

It's so easy to value ourselves based on helping others. And it feels good to help others! The hard part is remembering to keep enough of our energy to direct toward ourselves. Shouldn't we also hold the same value in helping ourselves as we hold in helping others? But, it is quite nice to feel needed! Great insight! The more we know and understand about ourselves, the more we can figure out how to balance better! ❤️
A Haiku IYKYN
I hate having pain Injection today-double Hemorrhoidectomy Some may say it’s 6 and not 5. In these parts, the first “O” is silent. And TMI. I needed a third sentence with 5 syllables. That is Thursday. Injections in back this morning. I’ve had them before and they haven’t hurt. Today, they went in from the sides instead of directly into the back. My left side hurt with the “bee sting” I’d feel. Well, it felt like a swarm. lol A.D.H.D. Leave How do I re-wire now I guess with bed rest Third time. Worst thing imaginable. We looked it up, and it does rate above childbirth as to pain with recovery, so no man bashing and calling us/me wimp(s). 🤣 🤣 🤣 I think I’ll do a check in. See if I can get through it and get three in a row. TTFN I put in fun category only because of the haiku. Nothing about the above is fun

@Shawn Bailey LOL, you're talking about South Park! An incredibly ridiculous, funny, and not pc cartoon where Kenny meets his end on the regular. It's pretty funny when you're in the mood to just shut your brain off and laugh 😂
